Yes and no. Being a nationalist is certainly a state of mind. White is, for the purposes of the press, those who were born in the west, of its majority religion, culture. Put it simply you won't see Adolph Ochs' Grey Lady canceled anytime soon. Or Isaac Wises's temple renamed, even though both identified as proslavery. In contrast we have seen, more than Confederates, even statues of abolitionists destroyed.

And increasingly there are countries, where being identified as "white" by the government has limited your speech. That is inescapable, unless you belong to any explicitly protected class.
