In fact the philosopher, Nietzsche, who infamously proclaimed, "God is dead", believed in God. His statement is often taken out of context. His argument was the "Clockmaker Argument".
He said that God made the universe, and everything in it, including man, but no longer moves through the Holy Spirit on earth. In other words, God left the building after Jesus' crucifixion.
Which is exactly the opposite of what Christ said.
