So about 90% of every single newspaper, magazine, online news outlet and publication in South Africa is owned by one single company called Naspers Limited. Naspers is a massive multinational media and technology group, out of South Africa, and one of the largest in the world. Naspers completely directs the narrative of everything in this country. Naspers is in China's pocket and thus all we hear is anti-Trump news. But here is the interesting part...
Not sure how many Americans know this, but the largest shareholder of Tencent (by far) is Naspers. Naspers in turn, is majority owned by the Public Investment Corporation, which is a State-owned body, 100% owned by the South African State. The South African State (which is a one party state run by the communist ANC) is a partner and admirer of China, and is in fact "owned" by China. China owns 80% of all sovereign debt in Africa, and has borrowed South Africa trillions of dollars. Think of this when you hear Tencent.
