I’ve lived here forever so I’ve seen the highs and lows.

And boy has it been low since the Bush years. Used to be the restaurants and rides had lines for days and you couldn’t move from how packed the casinos were.

The downturn really began when Brian Sandoval got elected. He basically ran as a “Republican but who cares for Hispanics” and leveraged that support to bring out the immigrant (former and anchor children at least) to win the past governor seat. Unfortunately he was actually a RINO, pandering by being a ‘Republican who was non partisan’ but essentially signed off on every Democrat proposal for increased taxes and regulations.

In a really genius move he oversaw things like the Culinary Union attaining it’s near total monopoly over the workers, draining a ton of money in fees and donating them all for their political agenda while blacklisting workers who disagreed from most businesses in the city. If you’re against them, you basically can only take low positions.

Of course this paved the way for a Blue takeover and Sisolak winning the seat basically as an inheritance once Sandoval left.
