There will be yuuuge pressure on Congress to forgive in any further Coronavirus package. Also republicans can run on the “elect republicans if you want the taxes forgiven” platform.

PS: Yes the Democrats could pass a law that just repeals all tax cuts issued by Trump and retroactively collect those taxes.... but they'd be better off just shooting themselves if they are going to impose like 10-20k of taxes ON TOP of the other taxes in the same year on the average family.
