I had to take an Uber to the airport and the guy who picked me up was in a Tesla. This was in San Antonio.

I asked him all sorts of questions about it, and it seems like a nice vehicle to own tbh if you plan on driving around the city alot.

I asked him about the quick charge stations and he pulled up a GPS map on that big display console and click on charging stations. To my surprise, there was quite a bit all over the city and all along the major highways going to Austin and Houston.

He says when he charges, he walks inside to take a piss, grab a coffee and something to munch on and by the time he gets back to his car, it's almost charged. Total time he says it takes, is about 15 mins. When he charges at home, it takes like 8 hours for a full charge, but it doesn't kill the electric bill which was another question I asked.

It really made me think about getting one myself because my drive to work is a killer on gas. But then this scamdemic happened and I work from home now.

But once the country opens again, I may actually consider buying one. At a full charge, those things can travel up to 350 miles. Not bad. He mentioned the newer models will be able to travel further.

That truck though is hideous.

Well last year a buddy was visiting and he said there was only 1 quick charge station in Austin, which he found surprising and because I don’t have an EV charging circuit at my house he couldn’t get a charge even overnight esp with the fans running to keep the batteries from overheating. Sounded like a big pain in the ass to me.

Also who buys a 100k+ car and has to supplement by driving an Uber? I mean if you need cash can you not sell the Tesla for a good price?

His car wasnt 100k though... not sure where you're getting that info.

The guy i spoke with said he paid like around 38k for his. They even install that charging station thing in your garage. He was telling me that he should have bought the 40k + model because it got more miles on the charge and had more features.

Also, he never mentioned anything about a fan and an overheating battery. From what he said, he just keeps it in his garage to charge. The dude is retired military which was a conversation starter because i'm also retired military and I was wearing my Air Force hat. As far as i know, he just Ubers to make fun money.

Found the website here for a dealership in San Antonio. Its 31k for a standard model with 250 mile range.

The one he had was a higher range, like 300 miles.

Spez:

yea look, you can change the range on it.

31K for 250 Miles

40K for 320 Miles.

My friend has a model x, which depending on what you get can easily be over 100k new.

Spez not sure where you’re getting those low numbers from, model s new is 75k to 95k.
