Saw a lot of this in Seattle. The mindset is “we don’t believe you can do anything for yourself, so we will do it for you.” They openly discuss this.

There’s a culture war going on up there in Seattle area with nonprofit groups that serve minorities are often led by white people who don’t live anywhere near the neighborhoods being served or go to those neighborhoods. They use all these ivory tower theories to dole out “solutions.”

The leaders who actually live in the community want to be part of these nonprofits because they understand the needs more, but their overlords won’t give up cushy pay and connections to let them serve.

Yeah it makes them high on their own self induced pity but they sure as shit don’t move to these neighborhoods without gentrification
