Subtract the area of the circle from the area of the square This gives you the area of a weird shape [A]. Note that each corner of the shape could fill the gap created by a rounded corner of the rectangle. Since there are two rounded corners, we divide [A] by two to get the area of the space that the rounded corners are not taking up [B].
