I have my children enrolled in private school but I still pay tax on public school so I deduct the total amount per each child and if the government doesn't like it they can go fuck themselves . Let me tell you another life lesson I learned when me and my wife had our first kid . My wife gave birth at home with just the two of us . When we took our son in for his first look about a month later they tried to charge us for a delivery/ aftercare / circumcision .... I never had my childs dick cut over some jews in the desert nonsense and I got a huge settlement and then they tried the same thing with my second son and I got another huge settlement . I do agree that many (most) things should be privately funded, and I don’t think public schools should be providing food, psychological and medical services, etc. But that is the system in place, for now, and I guess what I’m saying is that I would rather have my taxes stay local for those services and work to change things from there. They also have book clubs, computer classes for seniors, and English conversation classes. I am in a small town, mostly white, and most of the kids qualify for free/reduced lunch, so mostly poor as well. Your argument is the same deflection that the pro abortion people put out... why not adopt all the unwanted kids? Why just not begrudge a kid a fucking sandwich or a story time at the library if it means they have a chance of doing better than their fucked up families? I put my family first, and always will, but supporting my own town with time or money when I can benefits my family as well. Employers always dispute unemployment. Just keep appealing it till you can sit with a judge or arbiter. During covid they aren’t taking any shit.
I did appeal it. It was 10 weeks before I even heard back from them just so they could tell me I was denied, and still 3 or so now since I appealed and haven't heard anything. My one job that I still have atleast bumped my hours back up so I'm not super worried anymore but it'd be nice to recoup something for the 10 weeks I missed over 30 hours of money a week.
Not that this provides any help now, but if you’re in the appeals process currently it does get backdated. You could also contact an unemployment attorney; they can hurry up the process, but cost a bit of what they owe you. Depends how fast you need it.

Here in California, $400 is not even minimum wage. Assuming that you work 8 hours/day and 5 days/week, it would come out to only 83%. Minimum wage is the least amount of salary someone can earn(obviously), so adding a cap of 80% would either imply more money should be given out, or it would just be redundant.
Or better yet, we could just let people go back to work and earn it for themselves
CA unemployment calculator says the the normal compensation from the state is $260 per week if you were working full time at minimum wage ($13) so you add 400 to that and end up with $660 per week. That's $16.50/hr and still 27% more than you would make working.

If it is from the original CARES Act then the money would come from the Federal Reserve / Treasury. Without going into too much detail - it's not your tax dollars that pay for it in the traditional sense. When the Fed chooses to increase the money supply they work with the treasury to 'print' new money. The money is entered into the economy through various open market operations, traditionally with other banks, which the Fed then uses to control the money supply. When you hear about the national debt it's because of this process. The securities that are created in this process are typically issued as Treasury Bills.
I skipped a lot but the point is the money isn't paid for by taxes like welfare. It's instead 'paid' by the resulting effects on inflation and the interest rates. Your biggest worry with something like this is Hyper Inflation. But we're no where close to the level of money creation that we saw in '08 and we do retain "King Dollar" status so it's not like countries are hot and bothered to dump the dollar anytime soon.
This is all assuming that the enhanced unemployment insurance was using funds from the $2.3 trillion the Fed created for the China Flu. So if I'm wrong on that then whoops. But the money used in the stimulus checks for example came from the Fed.

Fair point you need to think in gross terms not just net. $600 a week on unemployment is $15/hour or $30000 a year. Not great by any means but enough to support yourself. A company paying $15/hour also has to pay FICA and SUTA taxes for the employee. That’s 7.65% plus whatever the state unemployment tax is which could be around 1-3%. That $15 becomes $16.30 or more.
Plus the employee has to pay taxes, and assuming an effective rate of 20% between state and federal income tax, the employee would need to be paid $18.75 to bet $15/hour. Add that together for the employer and they are paying over $20/hour to keep somebody who is receiving the same amount of net money to sit around and do nothing. It’s hard to convince a person to work in that scenario. And paying 25% more (20/hour vs 15/hour in this example) isn’t doable for many businesses.
To be fair it's $600 per week ONTOP of what they normally get from the state unemployement system. In my state the max per week was $400. So some people are making $4k a month on unemployment with the $600 that was added on by the gov.

I am trying very hard to find a job but it is difficult currently. The people crying about losing $600 a week or that are being irresponsible with it are the vocal minority. The vast majority appreciate the President doing whatever he has to, to help us make ends meet. I have some money saved up but I appreciate the President doing this because it buys me time to find a job without having to become penniless or homeless. Now I have hope that in a few years I can maybe start another business.

Yes, they shoukd. Trump did this to stop massive evictions, student loan defaults, and to help those who have permanently lost jobs get by. But, the payroll tax deferrals will get some businesses to hire and some people to go back to working.
What does the EO do to get that extra payment out? From what Trump said he’s requiring states to pay 25% of that extra payment. So that’s definitely not an extension of the unemployment enhancement that was in place. This is a new program that requires state financial support or the unemployed of that state will not receive that extra pay. That’s not a small thing and could easily take months to mobilize. How is that going to help people now?

I have my children enrolled in private school but I still pay tax on public school so I deduct the total amount per each child and if the government doesn't like it they can go fuck themselves . Been doing it for 9 years without any issue . Not saying I won't have to go to court over it at some point but I refuse to pay for crotch spawn public schools because I don't use them . Same with public libraries, etc . I don't use them so I won't pay for them . Even if you have children in public schools you should still deduct the free jogger breakfast/lunch program if you already feed your children!

Let me tell you another life lesson I learned when me and my wife had our first kid . My wife gave birth at home with just the two of us . When we took our son in for his first look about a month later they tried to charge us for a delivery/ aftercare / circumcision .... They also have book clubs, computer classes for seniors, and English conversation classes. I am in a small town, mostly white, and most of the kids qualify for free/reduced lunch, so mostly poor as well. Your argument is the same deflection that the pro abortion people put out... why not adopt all the unwanted kids? Why just not begrudge a kid a fucking sandwich or a story time at the library if it means they have a chance of doing better than their fucked up families? I put my family first, and always will, but supporting my own town with time or money when I can benefits my family as well. Employers always dispute unemployment. Just keep appealing it till you can sit with a judge or arbiter. During covid they aren’t taking any shit.
I did appeal it. It was 10 weeks before I even heard back from them just so they could tell me I was denied, and still 3 or so now since I appealed and haven't heard anything. My one job that I still have atleast bumped my hours back up so I'm not super worried anymore but it'd be nice to recoup something for the 10 weeks I missed over 30 hours of money a week.
Not that this provides any help now, but if you’re in the appeals process currently it does get backdated. You could also contact an unemployment attorney; they can hurry up the process, but cost a bit of what they owe you. Depends how fast you need it.

He’s suspending a law, not creating one, and reappropriating funds already supplied by congress for the $400. Congress can enact a new program which automatically cancels his EO, and the onus is on them to either forgive the deferral or make spending cuts to recover the money.

Here in California, $400 is not even minimum wage. Assuming that you work 8 hours/day and 5 days/week, it would come out to only 83%. Minimum wage is the least amount of salary someone can earn(obviously), so adding a cap of 80% would either imply more money should be given out, or it would just be redundant.

CA unemployment calculator says the the normal compensation from the state is $260 per week if you were working full time at minimum wage ($13) so you add 400 to that and end up with $660 per week. That's $16.50/hr and still 27% more than you would make working.

If it is from the original CARES Act then the money would come from the Federal Reserve / Treasury. Without going into too much detail - it's not your tax dollars that pay for it in the traditional sense. When the Fed chooses to increase the money supply they work with the treasury to 'print' new money. The money is entered into the economy through various open market operations, traditionally with other banks, which the Fed then uses to control the money supply. When you hear about the national debt it's because of this process. The securities that are created in this process are typically issued as Treasury Bills.
I skipped a lot but the point is the money isn't paid for by taxes like welfare. It's instead 'paid' by the resulting effects on inflation and the interest rates. Your biggest worry with something like this is Hyper Inflation. But we're no where close to the level of money creation that we saw in '08 and we do retain "King Dollar" status so it's not like countries are hot and bothered to dump the dollar anytime soon.
This is all assuming that the enhanced unemployment insurance was using funds from the $2.3 trillion the Fed created for the China Flu. So if I'm wrong on that then whoops. But the money used in the stimulus checks for example came from the Fed.

Fair point you need to think in gross terms not just net. $600 a week on unemployment is $15/hour or $30000 a year. Not great by any means but enough to support yourself. A company paying $15/hour also has to pay FICA and SUTA taxes for the employee. That’s 7.65% plus whatever the state unemployment tax is which could be around 1-3%. That $15 becomes $16.30 or more.
Plus the employee has to pay taxes, and assuming an effective rate of 20% between state and federal income tax, the employee would need to be paid $18.75 to bet $15/hour. Add that together for the employer and they are paying over $20/hour to keep somebody who is receiving the same amount of net money to sit around and do nothing. It’s hard to convince a person to work in that scenario. And paying 25% more (20/hour vs 15/hour in this example) isn’t doable for many businesses.
To be fair it's $600 per week ONTOP of what they normally get from the state unemployement system. In my state the max per week was $400. So some people are making $4k a month on unemployment with the $600 that was added on by the gov.

I am glad about this. A lot of us want to be working but can't. The government over reach for shut downs actually made my business go belly up, now I am jobless. I am trying very hard to find a job but it is difficult currently. The people crying about losing $600 a week or that are being irresponsible with it are the vocal minority. The vast majority appreciate the President doing whatever he has to, to help us make ends meet. I have some money saved up but I appreciate the President doing this because it buys me time to find a job without having to become penniless or homeless. Yes, they shoukd. Trump did this to stop massive evictions, student loan defaults, and to help those who have permanently lost jobs get by. But, the payroll tax deferrals will get some businesses to hire and some people to go back to working.
What does the EO do to get that extra payment out? From what Trump said he’s requiring states to pay 25% of that extra payment. So that’s definitely not an extension of the unemployment enhancement that was in place. This is a new program that requires state financial support or the unemployed of that state will not receive that extra pay. That’s not a small thing and could easily take months to mobilize. How is that going to help people now?
