God dammit, I haven't been eligible for unemployment since day 1. Here we go again.

Watch your hard-earned savings get inflated away! Put people back to work!

I'm lucky enough to have a nice gold and silver stack and just as much in cash put away so I'm somewhat inflation-proof, but it's still frustrating. I didn't receive a penny of the free $9,600 in unemployment and I won't receive a single penny of this additional $6,000. People will have been paid $15k-$16k in unemployment benefits this year just to sit around. While I have received $0 in unemployment.

They can't inflate gold away. Ron Paul said in his book "End the Fed" that Reagan's Federal Reserve Chairman, Paul Volcker, was constantly asking for up-to-date prices of gold in dollars. The bankers hate it when regular people trade the fiat currency for something real that can't be printed out of thin air.

Either way, I'm not benefiting. This is an executive order for the democrat vote. You win some, you lose some.

But it’s just a deferment, for people under 100k. It’s going to be paid back at tax time, at least for individuals. Wouldn’t be surprised if corps get a forgiveness though.

They refuse to give Trump 'a win' on anything.

True dat. Same with the GOP and Obama. The stupid bickering never ends. Remember, they are bickering over HOW MUCH and TO WHOM the newly printed money goes.

debts get inflated away too, I guess

NO_RINOs 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yup, government debts. The massive welfare-warfare state spending. Not debts of ants like you or me, lol. We're paying for it!

hey when I can buy a bottle of Coke for a trillion dollars with my 5 trillion dollar salary, my $160k house is going to be peanuts to pay off

It shouldn't be stupid. Our economy since 1913 punishes responsible savers and rewards irresponsible debtors. We're in upside-down land.

Thankfully, you can do something about it by buying gold, silver or land. Something that holds its value.

You should appeal it to a judge. I have a family member who is a federal unemployment judge and if what you said is all that happened you would 100% qualify.

Employers always dispute unemployment. Just keep appealing it till you can sit with a judge or arbiter. During covid they aren’t taking any shit.

df0ster5 1 point ago +1 / -0

I did appeal it. It was 10 weeks before I even heard back from them just so they could tell me I was denied, and still 3 or so now since I appealed and haven't heard anything. My one job that I still have atleast bumped my hours back up so I'm not super worried anymore but it'd be nice to recoup something for the 10 weeks I missed over 30 hours of money a week.

Not that this provides any help now, but if you’re in the appeals process currently it does get backdated. You could also contact an unemployment attorney; they can hurry up the process, but cost a bit of what they owe you. Depends how fast you need it.

Why not just give four hundred bucks to every American per month until this is over, why reward not having a job?

grunt2pog 8 points ago +8 / -0

Careful with that thinking, that's what the Dems have been trying to do since March.

He is right, this is the tragedy of the commons. It is only reasonable to take as much as you can once the system is geared in a way that benefits those who take the most.

Alot of people don't have a job right now through no fault of their own. Why are you acting like this is a normal situation and economy where anyone who isn't working is a lazy pos. My husband was a logistics consultant before all of this, making decent money and now he's applying for menial labor jobs to be able to pay the bills. We live in a small town, still largely affected by the shutdown and alot of jobs are just gone, not likely to come back anytime soon. You can blame the government for this situation, thank you very much. And p.s. we definitely don't feel like we are being rewarded. We feel screwed, and rightfully so.

I just said everyone should get it, that wouldn't make your household get a penny less. In fact you would also get $400, so your household would actually get more.

Sorry maybe I took that wrong but I'm seeing a lot of comments about anyone who isn't working right now is lazy or not looking hard enough. Its hiting a nerve since we are trying so hard to find something. The way you worded it made me think you were saying people are being rewarded during this bullshit and that is just not the case for another of people. Again, my bad if I misunderstood 🙂

Me: Got a new freelance job right at the start of the unemployment thing, and the contract is probably going to take me all the way through the supplement period.

It's hilariously ironic.
