You must live in a shitty community. Our library is fantastic and offers lots of activities for infant - teens (no drag queen bullshit either). They also have book clubs, computer classes for seniors, and English conversation classes. I am in a small town, mostly white, and most of the kids qualify for free/reduced lunch, so mostly poor as well. Your argument is the same deflection that the pro abortion people put out... why not adopt all the unwanted kids? Why just not begrudge a kid a fucking sandwich or a story time at the library if it means they have a chance of doing better than their fucked up families? I put my family first, and always will, but supporting my own town with time or money when I can benefits my family as well. I generally believe what goes around comes around, and I try to live in a way that is kind but not naive or stupid. It works for me, and obviously you are doing what works for you.
No, we don’t owe anyone anything, really. But contributing to help people who are my neighbors doesn’t bother me. We disagree on libraries, probably based on our personal experiences with them, which seem very different. I guess this is why everyone needs to be involved locally, although most people aren’t.
I'm glad you are fine with children using the library for a minecraft lan party and for bums using internet porn to jerk off . I don't want any of my tax dollars being spent on that nonsense

"I am in a small town, mostly white..." Yep. There is the difference right there.
I owe no one's kid a sandwich nor do I owe some old lady a PowerPoint class . Everything you can do at a library is available online for free

I’m sorry that happens at your library. Ours is worth the money. I would not be fine with that happening here either.
