I cannot imagine talking to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES like that, even one i disagree with. Absolutely disrespectful and disgraceful.

DaLaohu 353 points ago +357 / -4

Sometimes I think countries with mandatory military training are correct. In my Army career I rapidly learned "respect the rank, not the person." Which means you can not like a superior, but you still treat him with respect. And in the Army, this includes the President.

friendly_friends 192 points ago +193 / -1

Hell, I even treat my inferiors with respect. Everyone gets due respect, as long as they are respectful.

I will typicalky respect anyone until they give me a reason not to

I’d much rather have mandatory military service when you come of age than optional wikipedia degrees and breadth requirements that include them in colleges. One imparts valuable skills and character. The other robs people of them and makes many of them go deranged.

I think if more were dragged out kicking and screaming from press conferences after disrespecting the office, it might incentivize more to show some respect to not just the individual, but the position.

Most of my career was during Obama's Presidency. He was my President even though I didn't vote for him. He was my Commander in Chief. He still got my respect.

120
neehl 120 points ago +120 / -0

This. I feel so bad that Trump as a celebrity got more respect than Trump as a president. And that sums up what’s gone wrong with our society today.

Yeah but the future does not belong to those who slander the goat fucker or something.

What about that guy who made the anti Islamic parody short that they deployed the entire FBI against and effectively gitmoed ?

It was actually Mel Brooks quality stuff if you watch it. No sense of humor.

Angry islamics terrorists turning over bookshelves in someone's home office, a guy earnestly explaining the tax consequences of jihadis to his daughter, and Ali bartering with gay Mohammed to get more pedophilia into the religion over campfire chicken .

supersecretaccount82 5 points ago +5 / -0

My only hope is that when the frothing vitriol has faded a few years after his second term, the media and academia will start looking at him more objectively and realize the good he's done. Far fetched but it's a nice dream.

2
BigPanda71 2 points ago +2 / -0

No so far fetched. There will always be another Republican they need to demonize as the worst ever.

They called George W. Bush every terrible thing in the book, including Hitler. They wrote assassination fantasies about him. Now they love George W and all of the Bushes. No doubt they’ll praise Trump at some point to make the next guy look like a monster.

4
Wtf_socialismreally 4 points ago +4 / -0

You're not wrong.

This reporter can fuck off. I would've said the same thing with Obama too. This isn't the time and place for the "GOTCHA" type bullshit.

You use your allotted time to ask a question, and if the President of the fucking country moves on, you let him move on.

This isn't some celebrity sweetheart being followed the paparazzi, this is the President of the United States.

The fact that they tried to get people to respect Obama because he was President and can't afford the same shit to Trump is telling.

Every Republican that makes it through from now on will face this, even if they are the nicest people in the world.

This is why we needed Trump, so he'd just essentially say "fuck you" and walk away when you're being a bitch.

3
cherryred 3 points ago +3 / -0

If anyone EVER from the press gave Obama a hardball question I would've been impressed even if they were rude, because he never got them.

In the same tone, I would be hella impressed if the mainstream media ever asked Trump a question respectfully and with good intent, because these reporters are consistently some of the least professional, least humble, most brainwashed people ever.

They think he is hitler and they are standing up to fascism. So it is justified in their heads. Of course the opposite is true, but they are delusional.

Yeah, I think they are rewarded well to do this, or viciously hounded out of their jobs if they don't, it really seems so phoney sometimes. In guess the ones with any integrity walked away already, and we're stuck with these worms.

Oh yes. But everybody sees it. Left, middle, right. Everybody knows their only goal is to "catch him," trip him up. Every word out of their mouths is opposition, pure and simple.

If it was McConnel, Ryan, Rubio, or anybody else at that podium, they would (willingly) fall for it.

But not Trump!

I can assure you that we have even worse journalists here in Scandinavia. Our entire media is like CNN, we have no Fox News. When Mr Trump visited here in Finland, the media went apeshit and launched a campaign against Trump and America stating that you have no freedom of press. When Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping visited, they were quiet. No protests.

25
Pravikekec 25 points ago +25 / -0

That’s sad but hilarious. How can they consider themselves intelligent and progressive yet deny the existence of actual oppression. It’s staggering how they convince themselves otherwise

13
sancai 13 points ago +13 / -0

And I mean, Russia is our neighboring country and everyone knows what's happening there. They just only care about Russia when they're blaming Finnish nationalists of being "Russian trolls" or whatever. They copy every single orange man bad article from America but pretty much never report anything from Russia or China, which are closer to Finland than America is.

mugatucrazypills 6 points ago +6 / -0

Actually, the left has the worst journalists. We have the best journalists (Chanel Rion, Tucker and John Solomon, among others).

BartoshJr 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree that the commentator description does apply to Tucker to an extent, particularly during his opening monologues every night. However, many of his interview segments have proven that he is also capable of true objectivity. Compare Tucker's respective interviews with Phil Murphy and Jim Jordan from recently; Tucker's views are generally similar to Jordan's opinions, but he still grilled Jordan every bit as hard as Murphy.

As for Sara Carter, I don't follow her very much, but I've heard nothing but praise for her intensive investigate reporting.

Yes, I've seen Attkisson's name previously mentioned on this forum in reference to strong investigate journalists. I don't really keep up with her, but I will certainly check out her website to view some of her work. Thanks for the link, fellow pede.
