I thought about that too. Not to put it on the victim. Don’t get me wrong, he did nothing wrong, but he maybe could have done things different and the situation might have played out better. Not trying to come off like a Monday morning quarterback, but we should try to learn something from how this went so it can be avoided should any of us find ourselves in a similar spot.

With the tensions law enforcement are facing let’s be sure to put them at ease whenever we can. Like you said, peek out weapon hidden and confirm it’s actually the police. Last time I was pulled over I made my hands visible and let the officer know I had a permit and a weapon on my person, “How would you like to proceed, sir?” He appreciated me letting him know, and we both lived to tell about it.

Again, that doesn’t make what happened any better. Tragic situation could have been avoided entirely if neighbor twat had just sacked up and asked them to hold the noise down...it’s possible to do that and be polite.
