I tried that, but with Brazil, and they wanted to give me yellow fever and many other innoculations that were scary and expensive. Plus I couldn't guarantee they would give me HCG since I was prescribed a different malaria drugs when I went to India a few years ago.
I considered that scenario. I'd tell the travel doctor you use your GP for the yellow fever, dengue fever, spotted fever etc. and you don't have your shot card with you because it's with your passport getting the visa. As far as I know there are only two types of malaria pills and the hydroxycloroquin (spelled wrong, derp) is the most common for Africa. I got the one you are referring to for working in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Not that I can't afford it but I don't want to because I'm single, no dependants and I rarely need medical attention. I'm 50 this year, drink, smoke etc though I've had it through different jobs in the past. My grandfather died at 94 and refused to buy insurance. Paid for every single thing out of pocket and cash as needed.

For Ivermectin, I only saw one study ever mentioned, from Australia. Haven't seen a second one done by anyone.

I just went through this nightmare trying to get HCQ for a family member. I didn't get a prescription in a timely manner, and she had to go through it without anything. I got my doctor to prescribe it, but I couldn’t go through Indian Health (they refuse to use it, I guess in fear of being accused of experimenting on Natives). Had to get it filled at a pharmacy and CVS tried to deny it because insurance wouldn’t cover it. I told them I’m paying out of pocket ($20/month for six months). Then the lady said they had to check a box on their form to determine if I was traveling or had a preexisting health condition. She emphasized traveling twice (based) so I told her I was about to embark on a six month tour of Rwanda. Problem solved.

Off label use still permitted if doctor documents the evidence of efficacy and need in the medical record. Plenty of evidence of efficacy when used as early as possible once infected. Google says 36 months. Which means it's a relatively stable chemical compound... So even after 36 months it would still be good, just degraded around the edges and maybe a little less than 200mg of pure HCQ.
