Yeah I read it caused a lot of grief over in the Netherlands and Europe. In America I've never heard of it until now.

The killing was especially egregious because of the killer's notes pinned to Van Gogh, as well as the fact that the killer was known to radicalized.

From what I recall, Van Gogh was killed maybe 15 years ago. But for some reason, the details about the murder were publicized around a year or so ago. Might have had something to do with the film Van Gogh and a Somali woman produced before he died.

No. I'm in Los Angeles. But since Van Gogh's murder was related to the documentary he produced, the LA Times and local news covered it.

Old news is old, but yes.

For any fans of Van Gogh (the old master, not this dude) check out the film, Loving Vincent

was a Dutch director and film and television producer, actor and author. He directed "Submission: Part 1", a short film written by Somali writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, which criticized the treatment of women in Islam in strong terms. On 2 November 2004, van Gogh was assassinated by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim who objected to the film's controversial message.

Sounds like he was being Islamaphobic to that “Dutch-Moroccan Muslim”.

They were killing people in 2004...well, most of Europe probably won't ever do anything. They will occupy in a manner that is insidious and will never do enough to gather enough attention to provoke a national governmental or citizen response, which if it the citizens did speak out, their governments would just arrest them instead. I know there were a few nations taking a stand though...I think 2 had walls...

Damn he even made a short film about how islam treats women.

Van Gogh is interesting. There is a very plausible theory he talked two young men into shooting and killing him. Or something ti that effect. Like not murder but assisted and felt guilty about it. I didnt know anything about vincents surviving family.

Loved his interviewing style. Down to earth, but sharp as a nail.

Yes, I remember this well. Also...look up padma latskys ex husband was threatened by Muslim extremists also. Had a "fatwa" on his head, because he wrote a popular book they didn't like
