Everyone should have a 22LR. Not for concealed but just because it's nearly a universal caliber. When the shit hits the fan have a big box of that in storage.

More important a 10/22 style rifle. Idk how useful a .22 handgun is especially when shit hits the fan

Not just that but a .22 can shoot all the .22 rimfire rounds, not just .22LR. So if you want to dial it down and not get air (because the PCP stuff is even more serious ...having the compressor work post-SHTF is something to think about, and stuff that beats .22LR is expensive) putting .22BB in there is possible although I think it depends on the magazine.

I wouldn’t count on .22lr for self defense. 9mm is good. Ammo won’t be scarce forever, but for now you may have to search the internet to find any.

For now I would get a carry gun and then ammo. You can look to expand your collection at a later point of course but I don’t think it makes sense to start with two guns and no ammo or a gun that you won’t always carry.

It's still good to have, especially if starlings, house sparrows, squirrels, and rats are practically and legally available as targets. And it's a fallback for post-SHTF self defense when a) 9mm ammo will probably be much harder to find than .22 and b) nobody wants to get shot with anything in a low-food, low-medicine environment.

You can order 9mm ammo online, easily found, and send it to your local FFL for a fee, everyone saying it is sold out and not available are a buncha knuckleheads.

cheaperthandirt is who I used to use when ordering online was good. Other place Ive seen mentioned a lot, cannot vouch for them is targetsportsusa.com. Brick and mortar depending where you live, Sportsmans Warehouse is good. Other places can be found at ammoseek

edit: for ammo, guns I am not certain.

What's the average on 9mm and 223 ordering online nowadays? I stocked up before stuff got crazy luckily.

Ammoseek[dot]com. But shop locally too. Chances are it's cheaper than online.
