... Allow me to disagree. The AR15 platform is a pile of shit as it dumps exhaust combustion gas directly into the chamber. This then builds up carbon on the internal components and is the exact reason why the rifles jam after 30 to 40 rounds.
The SCAR and ACR are better weapon platforms. Why? Because they copied the AK. The gas pushes back a rod. The combustion gas does not directly dump into the chamber. The Enfield rifle is pretty cool too.
I'm sure there's a bunch of nuts here that have not spent thousands of hours on a shooting range that want to argue with me. To those purists, the Infantry hates the M16 and M4 platforms. They are shit platforms. We pushed to replace it with the Scar, DOD came down with some bullshit tests saying it didn't stack up. Fuck I hate the DOD. I'm retired now, not my problem anymore. Fuck I hate them.
Adams Arms has a piston driven AR15 that is the best of both worlds. Doesn't get the combustion gas build up but you still get the customizability of an AR.
