Don't know much about lever actions, but that 30-30 looks awfully tapered, pointy nosed, and rimmed. How does that work in a tubular magazine?

Hes shooting Hornadys lever-evolution ammo. It has a special polymer tip that wont cause a chain fire

The one below the rifle is a standard Remington green/yellow box 150 grain jacketed soft-point. The jacket is tapered as usual, but the tip is flat lead.

The six in my buttstock loops are 160gr Hornady Leverevolution FTX. They have Spitzer type bullets, but the tip is a flexible synthetic that's soft enough to prevent a miss-fire in a tubular magazine. Definitely worth checking out if you buy a lever rifle!

The Hornady is all I shoot out of my Marlin 1895. A bit expensive but it's good ammo.
