I love the Savage model 99. I had one chambered in 30/30. It was a family heirloom that I lost in a burglary. I was just sick over losing it. A good friend of mine actually had one chambered in .308 that he gave me after that. The model 99 is one of the finest lever action rifles ever made.
The BLRs are really nice but the Savage Model 99's (at least the ones with the internal magazine) are a little more elegant. I think the BLRs are a little overpriced too.
FYI Savage stopped making the mod 99 in 1999. All you have available is used stock.
Nice I have a 1949 mod 336 and a Glenfield mod 30. Great guns.
I've always been a lever man. Check out the Savage model 99 if you want a lever that can shoot high pressure spire point (non lever-revolution) ammo

Yeah I picked up a .308. The ones chambered .300 savage look great but I wanted a NATO round.
I was actually looking into the Browning BLRs, but I didn't know Savage makes some as well. Will do!
