There's room for about 4 more I'd say. 4 more years that is.

I'm going to see it for the first time later this month. To say I'm excited is an understatement: I'm exactly this kind of nerd. That speech would have been an unbelievable event to witness.

As an aside though, this is a lovely picture. Usually people focus in so close to the monument itself--or themselves standing in front of it--that it's hard to appreciate the mountain it's built into. You caught it at a perfect time, too; the lighting is wonderful. Very much postcard-quality photo here pede, and you should be proud.

Thanks! I only wish td.win allowed for larger photos!

We drove up the mountain in an awesome thunderstorm, hence the wavy clouds above. Beautiful lightning over rapid city, with fantastic views from the natl. forest roads. The Black Hills are breathtaking--I'd recommend them to anyone!

Have been there! A truly majestic place!! All of it... the approach, the park and the monument, itself!

Thank God it is hard to access. This would have been torn down already if it would have been a standard monument. It's a beautiful site and on my bucket list.

Sweet! I was just there with my family two weeks ago. We drove through on the way to Grand Teton and made a tour of it. Badlands, lunch at Wall Drug, Rushmore, dinner in Sturgis and then overnight near Devils Tower. Never knew South Dakota was so beautiful and BOY is it based.

Spotted this glorious bastard at Rushmore and then as we rolled into Wall I spotted the first of many, many roadside Trump stands (of course the first would be in WALL, kek!). https://imgur.com/a/fzEyThx

Did it suddenly get dirty or does it usually look like that?

Looks like it rained, I think it's just wet.

Freshly washed by a hardcore thunderstorm that broke as we arrived. Made some pretty cool clouds above the monument, slightly pictured.

If Trump ends The Fed and fixes our monetary system he'll deserve to be up there for sure

You are not allowed to do that, but I believe there are other mountains you can hike on.

When the first Confederate statues were pulled down just years ago, people said it was ridiculous hyperbole to say statues of Jefferson and others might be pulled down next.

That was just a few years ago, now Washington and Columbus statues have been torn down, and the MSM and Democrats applaud it.

It's too easy to dismiss it as ludicrous, but Rushmore is GENUINELY under real and serious threat.

It is significant that Lakota people chose to make a stand against President Trumpโ€™s rally on July 3 at Mount Rushmore. Tribal members worried that the event would spread the novel coronavirus to their people, just as the smallpox brought to the U.S. by white colonizers sickened Indigenous people centuries ago. The monument itself was designed by someone who had ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Treaty defenders attempted to prevent Trumpโ€™s supporters from reaching the rally and many were arrested in the process. In a public statement, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe chairman Harold Frazier voiced support for the destruction of the monument, describing it as a depiction of โ€œmen who lied, cheated, and murdered innocent people whose only crime was living on the land they wanted to steal.โ€

It's like reading something by Lenin.
