EVEN when I was a dutiful D voter, even later when I naively but enthusiastically supported Bernie, I was aware at my public school work of the dumbing down and partisan staff and dropping of critical skills for a pre-narrated "truth" etc.

And I took PRIDE in being lowkey subversive by teaching critical thinking and analyzing claims and questioning sources and doing counter searches off Google, and using hard facts in justifying positions or beliefs.

More basic understanding and skills, knowledge, new perspectives, historical context, other influences.

That sunlight and air and distance from any subject gives a more accurate perspective.

That anyone is capable of self-driven success no matter what they were told. That others out there besides me will see their potential if they have confidence in themselves and stick to it. That having personal ethics you stick to is a lifetime virtue.

I felt quite normal for my left liberal upbringing and adulthood... and got admiration and respect for my success ratio. Now I am a total shunned outsider. No question the system has been turned to hardcore indoctorination imo.

Haha you should hear how teachers are seething with hate over it. Someone who used to be a friend of mine along time ago is a teacher. Caught her posting about it. She and other teachers were all talking about how homeschooling is going to dumb down kids because the parents will have know idea what they are talking about. Let's see, what does she teach. Theatre arts. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I bet the bitch can't even do highschool math. Pfft.

21
GodsHonestTruth 21 points ago +21 / -0

That’s the thing, all of the teachers I know about teach elementary level shit. They are worthless.

18
Raindrops1984 18 points ago +19 / -1

I’m an elementary teacher. Got a perfect score on the verbal SAT and 97th percentile on the English Literature subject test. There are good teachers. Just not many of us.

19
SordidPontification 19 points ago +19 / -0

You're being drowned out by the Marxists who are using the position to craft their own mindless foot soldiers for the "cause."

That's the reality.

14
Raindrops1984 14 points ago +14 / -0

You are right. Education needs a massive overhaul.

10
GodsHonestTruth 10 points ago +10 / -0

Good job! I'm overgeneralizing because most are indeed worthless.

3
sdl5 3 points ago +3 / -0

Teacher aide and tutor before it hit the fan here- perfect English/verbal 98% Math.

Now I am not welcome because I insist children think for themselves and teach those skills. 💁

-2
Coopster -2 points ago +1 / -3

There are good teachers. Just not many of us.

Yes- but life is not learned from a book or scoring high on a test. That does not make you a good teacher. You Started life in academia and never left it' sheltered halls. Sad.

What life skills can you teach your students? - other than passing exams?

1
sdl5 1 point ago +2 / -1

You can't know that.

A lot of teachers or tutors had entire lives outside the intellectual bubble prior or live normal real world lives daily like everyone else around them.

Stop making blanket hostile assumptions- that's what bigots and idpols and elites do.

1
Coopster 1 point ago +1 / -0

Stop making blanket hostile assumptions- that's what bigots and idpols and elites do.

Ah - Your inner authoritarian teacher is showing. Your trying to "teach" me. "Bigot, elites" Those are the words that the BLM and Antifa use.

I'm sure there are a few good teachers out there but IMO the vast majority are exactly as I described them. In your heart, you must know the public education system is rotten to the core as currently implemented.

After 6 years they are mostly burned out and hanging around for a retirement.

Them that can - Do. Them that can't - Choose teaching as a career.

I once moved in with her for a week. I was never involved in politics ever. I learned all about the left and what they believe from her right before moving in. So, during that week I did a lot of research on it and tried very hard to see their point of view. Ya know, try to understand them, relate, get myself educated etc.... ya know, Basically just being a decent open minded human. Well, a week later I left a note and just left. The note was really just a list of their beliefs and how they are bullshit and objective reality disagrees. First line was, there are only two genders .....another you talking to 4 different guys and actively fucking 3 of them, yes that makes you a hoe. Lol she posted the note on Facebook. XD Edit* totally forgot about the fat shaming thing. Told her in the note, yes, you are fat. It's not beautiful or brave, it's a sign of impulse control issues. XD

5
HockeyMom4Trump 5 points ago +5 / -0

I would love to read that note! It sounds entertaining.😂

I mean...you’re not lying...obesity doesn’t nothing outside of increase cost of living and future liabilities. It’s nothing to be proud of.

2

The entirety of the left's policies and belief system revolve around the rejection of any and ALL self-imposed or societal impulse control. They are chaos incarnate.

8
chain_rule_gang 8 points ago +8 / -0

I guarantee that she can't. Me: high school math teacher. On side note I support school choice. The way I look at it there will still be demand in some shape or form for guys like me to teach math whether in an online academy or a brick-and-mortar school.

31
JiggsawCalrissian 31 points ago +32 / -1

Well sir I dont know you from adam but I had a look at that there comment..

I think it's because you said 'please get educated if you have kids'

Comes across a little passive aggressive. I'd reckon that's the cause of the downvotes, not you saying Edu is infested with marxists (in my experience everyone here agrees with that)

10
rooftoptendie 10 points ago +10 / -0

sounds karen-ey

5
SordidPontification 5 points ago +6 / -1

Maybe so, but let's be honest: If people actively did educate themselves before/when having kids on a number of subjects (ironically, education being one of them), society would be better off at large.

Instead, we have a generation of idiots who think that having children should be someone else's problem. Like daddy government.

The homeschoolers and people of faith are the only ones who seem to be actively thinking this through.

7
deleted 7 points ago +8 / -1
2
SordidPontification 2 points ago +2 / -0

Exactly.

There's no excuse for ignorance. Not the least of which in today's age.

What we're witnessing with the younger generation happily gobbling up Marxist philosophy is a direct consequence of ignorance and a sore lack of critical thinking. Honestly, that begins with the parents.

Relying on educators to make up for an educational shortfall at home is a recipe for disaster. The black community is a good illustration of this. Yes, there are exceptions where people can rise up out of the ashes of broken homes, but those are exceptions not the rule.

It amazes me the flak you're getting for your original post (and subsequent ones) because nothing you've said is wrong. Public schools are indoctrination centers. Nothing "Karen" about that no matter how much some of the people here would like to lament.

1
rooftoptendie 1 point ago +1 / -0

Your point is not at issue, its your delivery style. If you cannot compel your audience through inspiration and reason, and wish instead to shame, then do it with enough humor to entertain, or enough balls to just be the flat out bitch you want to be.

Your insults and underhanded snarky digs are artless, attacking the wrong people in the wrong ways. Point still stands. You keep hammering on your ideas when attacked... A Karen isn't a Karen because she's wrong, she's a Karen because she's a snotty bitch that no one wants to have an exchange with. Your basic point is not what youre getting downvoted for. Youre getting downvoted because you have a 'tude. If you disagree with me, maybe you can take a hard look at your comment history's chronic rash of downvotes and see if maybe that's related to what i'm saying here.

CapnKek 21 points ago +21 / -0

Virtual video classroom learning is showing parents and grandparents how disorganized and ignorant some of their ‘highly qualified’ teachers are. The video-capture of this incompetence is going to be everywhere in the fall. If parents really knew what took place in classrooms they’d pull out their kids next day. Now they will know.

22
snuggs316 22 points ago +22 / -0

there was a text/twatter capture posted here yesterday, two "teachers" bemoaning the fact that video learning was impeding their ability to carry on diversity training and that parents were the problem. then some mama bear took them both out. we only hear the occasional story here and there, but i bet sitting through a day of your child's classes would wake up a LOT of parents. "you may have birthed them, but they're ours now, bwahahaha!" seems to be the general theme among the matriculation marxists.

16
ABC_oldguy 16 points ago +16 / -0

As a public school teacher, I would say it depends on where you live. I grew up in the south and now teach here too. The teachers I know and had are overwhelmingly conservative. But that’s the south. I taught a year in Washington state, and it’s the opposite. FWIW...

Schooling is failing our kids. Most of them want to do YouTube for a living now.

I’m happy I mostly went to private school.

It’s crazy I’m not even 30 and I attended a mostly white Christian school, we were taught never to judge a book by its cover and we pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America every morning. There were only two genders, Pluto was and is a planet.

How did so much wrong happen so fast?

10
rooftoptendie 10 points ago +10 / -0

commies aggressively target schools.

It was a thing even when I was in school and that was a long time ago... they've just kicked it up to eleven now.

Which is why its funny that now theyre shitting their pants over teleconferencing classes. They painted themselves into a corner.

8
MAGAmemnon 8 points ago +8 / -0

Look into charter schools. Public money, but private-like education. Not all charter schools are the same, but if you can find a good one, it’s a sweet deal for a family with both parents working.

2
Coopster 2 points ago +2 / -0

They could if the government issued school vouchers. Find a school near your work. Neighborhood home schooling. Defund public schools, fire the teachers, rent classrooms to private schools, parents choose teachers and pay them good wages.

8
Smurfection 8 points ago +8 / -0

The percent can vary from school districts but overall, you're correct. Even if you allow for most of the teachers in any one school or district to be non-political or conservative, the administrations are saturated with lefties. It is almost impossible to become a superintendent in any city without being far left. The same is true for the school board and the principles.

Lefties simply will not give a single career advancement opportunity to anyone who is not a lefty. The strategy was devised by Gramsci and it's called the Long March Through the Institutions. The idea is that a lefty never promotes, hires, mentors, provides opportunities or considers anyone to the right of that lefty. A Democrats superintendent will never allow a non-Democrat to become a principle. A principles will never promote a non-Democrat to any administration position within the school. This is how the left took over schools, colleges, government bureaucracies, etc. heck, even churches have this problem. The lefties constantly act like a cabal and push further and further to the left. This is by design. For decades, even generations, the left has diligently sought to push conservatives, independents, even moderate liberals from the ranks of any decision making at each and every organization they can infiltrate. They'll even destroy unions, businesses, schools, churches, social organizations in the process.

Public schools are not trying to educate kids so they know how our government, our laws, our society work. They are not trying to teach kids practical things or introduce career and business opportunities. Instead, they are focusing on making kids hyper sensitive to race, confused on sexual and gender issues and in a moral panic over environmental issues. Every school kid is afraid of climate change/ global warming but is indotrinated with a knee jerk attitude about Islam being a religion of peace. Every school kid can rattle off a list of different gender identities and examples of racism but few of them read books, can give the name of an elected state or local representative, know how a bill is passed through congress or can explain how taxes work.

7
mikejones 7 points ago +7 / -0

I say anyone under 30 has been fed junk food and lies all of their lives.

Public schools have become babysitting class. The smart ones after graduating go to offices that play CNN all day.

Trump watched first hand how America was overtaken as he's old enough to have lived through it.

Instead these 30 and under crowd get all their news from younger looking people who have also been fed the same bullshit.

How am I suppose to change your mind when all the facts clearly argue that they are?

Best professor I've ever had was the following...

  • Very tough (there was no "well you kinda got it right" and to get a 100% on an assignment or project from them was brag worthy)

  • Very well versed in their field and knew the many viewpoints people from different camps held

  • Taught a very rounded and incredibly intense subject where one week you'd be reading a couple books about XYZ and how that's the best and then the next you'd be reading about how XYZ actually sucks and ABC is the best.

  • They actively argued with you. Not "pushed you along" or "guided you", but almost came at you trying to tear down your argument and expected you to defend it; meaning you had to know your material walking in. It felt like a full on debate and you'd be a fool not to come in with prepared notes and counter points.

The point of me hoisting this professor so high is because - in my (very long) experience in the college system - this professor was the exception to the rule. I knew exactly where they stood on certain topics but there was never a moment where I felt like I was being told that their standpoint was the undeniable truth. I was always being challenged and told that I need to think for myself and develop my own viewpoint on these things - one capable of standing up to scrutiny and criticism. That is not the common situation in public schooling.

It’s that they know that the involved parents with the inquisitive kids will be the first to go - leaving discipline issues and low performance behind. Test scores will crater. My kids made it through ok because I refused to be a helicopter parent - I was a fucking A-10 Hellfire parent. Anything less and your kids will be theirs.
