Or how pro-slavery advocates in the US made it such a pain in the ass to free slaves that many slave owners who hated the practice simply allowed their "slaves" to live normal lives while legally still owning them.
Like any major political change, it has to occur slowly. We can't just snap our fingers and declare that ingrained political structures can change overnight. Our Presidents have always known that if we made slavery illegal from the get-go, that we'd risk a civil war. Incremental change is hard to deal with, but its the only way to change things politically. Look at marijuana. It should be legal, but we have to first go about the bullshit "medical marijuana" angle first.
Completely lost on the illogical left. If George Washington an abolitionist, he could not have been the first president and someone less qualified would have been chosen in his place. The southern states would never have accepted it and would not have agreed to join the union if abolition was a stated priority. We would all be worse off as a result.
A republican senator expressed that, that slavery was a necessary evil at the time to maintain the integrity of the Union as it was forming, didn't stop the media from saying that he said that slavery was a "Necessary Evil"
The truth is so foreign to the standard narrative. I imagine most leftists would respond with "but he owned slaves how can you say that he wanted to abolish slavery!"
Major facts like this would be forgotten and a million other things that could no longer be proven or clarified, if we let the friggin Left wipe out and re-write our history like they want to do. It is obvious, but this is why they want to do it! They are the worst of humanity and seem to enjoy it, they are the ones who did all the heinous acts, but are experts at blaming it on everyone else, and making them feel guilty and trying to "fix" or explain the problem (because like the conservs. in this case, who still have morals, or are the only ones who ever did have morals!) even 300 years after the fact like in this instance.
I mean without the efforts of the American and British navy’s anti-slave patrols the African slave trade would have continued a lot longer. The African kingdoms were making bank on selling their vanquished enemies.
Ironically, the two countries BLM are most active in are the ones most involved in ending slavery of black people.
