Police Squad! has entered the chat

The thing that blew my mind most was the skill and technique involved in many of the eisodes, for instance an ep will have whatever crazy story/scheme going on, then layered over the top will be how they depict parts of the story, frequently mimicking or giving their take on genre films and shows, twisting them to fit the story, some of it is outright genius, so underrated. For instance one off the top of my head had the boys stay overnight doing drugs at work, when they get suprised by some tech workers, it was part acid trip, part Die Hard, part Entrapment etc. While then another was a bizarrely hilarious ep about how Ders had embarrassed himself getting a boner in front of the girls at his high-school swim carnival....then gets to re-live the whole day again as a grown-up. Just fantastically original compared to the usual shit around.
