Easily found but I love the huge list of "You didn't know THIS about Fred Rogers! He was a cold-blooded sniper/killer!" The reason he wears sweaters and long sleeves is he's got the carinval-tats up and down his arms. The excellent documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor (INFINITELY better than the Hanks-starring, nauseating film) dispels the majority of these myths, directly asked of The Man HIMSELF. The comments on here about Mr Rogers being a commie I'm going to assume are sarcastic.
I be-leave he wanted a perfect society in the same manner of speaking communistic, were everyone works together and sings KUM-BIA AND GETS ALONG. I really don't know what his thoughts or be-leafs are, I'm just speculating what others might think
Honestly - after seeing the documentary - I genuinely have a lot more respect for the guy, whose show I never watched growing up. I always thought his demeanor was slightly Biden-level creepy but watching that doc put things in perspective (e.g., he really is/was like that off-screen as well) with one thing in particular standing out - he spoke TO the children on THEIR level and not that dopey Sesame Street crap - as a wee tot in the early 70s I was more of an Electric Company guy w/ Rita Moreno, unknown Morgan Freeman...then straight to Monty Python.
Also - thanks for the link - interesting. I've been looking for this particular email I received probably 20-ish years ago about the literally black'and'white difference between TODAY'S America-LOATHING 'celebrities' and those of YesterYear and all who without hesitation walked away from or suspended their lucrative careers to go and fight The Good Fight - Clark Gable, the mighty Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, Ted Williams was a HELL of a pilot in Korea, etc, etc. That would NEVER happen now - they just kneel and cry.
Fred Rodgers, was never in the service and probable never held a gun. I thought he was in the navy but I was wrong. https://www.navalhistory.org/2018/03/08/12-people-you-didnt-know-were-u-s-marines
