Not much. Official US response is "So sorry your port blew up. Aid? LOL." (As it should be)
There's something there, but it's a death cult country, so we may never know - but the events over there are getting interesting. Fuck 'em. Instability in death cult countries is always better than unity and strength in death cult countries.
Lebanon is the only middle eastern country left with a significant christian population. 41% of Lebanon is Christian, they control half of the seats in parliament, and they control the presidency (written into constitution). If Lebanon falls, the last Christian sanctuary in the middle east falls as well
I haven't met a Lebanese person who has good things to say about their country except for the one guy who left his wife, moved back to Lebanon, and converted to Islam.
I am from Leb and I live here now. First, it’s not a death cult country like some ignorant people in the comments say. Us Christians here have a very westernized culture and way of life.
Yeah you can say its looking more and more like it was an accident. But the investigation is not finished yet, plus we are asking for an international investigation because we dont have trust in any governing bodies here.
But I have to say , the timing of this is very suspicious as it coincides with coming events that was gonna put some big baddies in danger. Now they’re safe again, unfortunately.
No. I’ve never been there & my father has never been there either. Grandpa was born there, came to the US, served as a scout in the 3rd Army in WWII, returned to the States & married my grandma whose parents were born there.
I’m eligible for Lebanese citizenship because I can prove my paternal lineage but I don’t believe in dual citizenship and sure as hell ain’t giving up my US citizenship.
I have no particular insight, though I did talk about it today with a colleague who’s a member of my church whose parents & sibs still live there. He seemed resigned to the fact rather than angry which tells me the sentiment there among the Christians is this was typical Leb government ineptitude.
You need way more Christians/non-Muslims in Lebanon to have any hope of a working government if the current structure was overthrown. Otherwise it's just another Afghanistan or Iraq. The Muslims have already demonstrated that they don't want and will not maintain any government but sharia.
The Maronites with heads on their shoulders left Lebanon long ago. The Lebanese constitution isn't protecting them; it's just giving token representation.
Well a lot has been going on over there and they sorta lost all the money in the banks. I wonder if they will actually try to find who took it now that they ran out the politicians.

Most of us Christian Lebanese left ages ago. We took our wealth with us.

Did you grow up in Lebanon?
Do you have any insight for us, was this an accident or deliberate?

I’d say “Deus vult” but no one in the West, especially Europe gives a shit anymore. They are more than happy to give up to the Muslim hordes.

We can't even keep Sharia out of western civilization. We'd be better off deporting all Muzzies to their sandbox, and keeping them there.

I agree that's how it should be!
But didn't Trump just say, in his chopper talk, that we "have to" send money over there to help out?
Because I'm with you. I disagree with the GEOTUS's big heart on this one. I don't want a dime of our hard earned tax payer monies going overseas.
We really can't afford it now.
And it's not like this was some "natural" disaster, either.
Jury is still out, but given the ENTIRE gov't stepped down in the aftermath? Sure smells like some kind of fuckery was a'foot!
Which makes it even LESS deserving of our tax dollars!

I think it's mostly that their public has really put the pressure on for this whole government to either resign or hang, since December or longer.
I wish our government had as much respect for We the People!
