I just built my first AR-15, but unfortunately I have no ammo. Been looking for .223 and 5.56, but I can't find any good quality bullets for less than $1 per round. What's going on? Is someone buying up all the stock?

How practical is it to make my own bullets? Can someone with little-to-no shopwork experience do it?

Yeah, and here's the response to that 3500 in the same thread:

"The rifle he bought in 1994 was probably one of the USMC rifles that were bought to go to war with and then sold when they returned to US soil. The things had SLAP barrels(read "not as accurate with ball ammo") and were very high round count used guns that could stand to have been returned to Barrett for a rebuild.

The things wound up being a good investment for some because some outlandish prices have been obtained for those old USMC M82s. 3500 bucks was about the going price for the rifles at that time for just the rifle, most were painted desert camo."

"you also forgot to add to your quote of me "i never said new"."

You're right, this was my first reply to you:

"$2,500? Maybe for a ratted out, back from the Gulf version, but NIB would've been over $5K."

So the very first thing I said was that it was likely heavily used for the price you claimed. Again, your reading comprehension appears to be lacking.
