Plenty of people “on the left” are very intelligent. The difference is they know the stuff they’re spouting is bullshit, and only serves as a means for whatever end they actually want
Basically this in my experience. If you’re conservative for any moral conviction you’ve basically gotta toss that conviction to switch. The only person I’ve known to do so has also abandoned the church and defining his sex by his male genitalia.
The reason is because postmodern leftists abandoned truth. Once you accept that there are absolute truths on which society is founded, you immediately are red pilled. There are lots of leftist that kind of float on the "blue wave" and are finding themselves lost at sea now.
One red pill and it all comes crashing down. Even moderates and classic liberals are leaving the left, because liberalism and freedom of expression are being trounced by the nu-left.
Not true.
My eldest sibling has gone full on libtard.
At the age of 37, after he already had a wife and kid, he decided he was a woman trapped in a man's body, had what I will gingerly call "bottom surgery" demanded his wife enter into a lesbian relationship with him, and announced he is not Democrat but "Anti-Republican".
So... in order to go the other way you have to be crazy enough to cut your own balls off.
I miss my brother. He is doing everything he can to push his family away.
Just to stab at it - his brother isn’t anti-republican, he’s miserable and has flipped his whole life on its head in an attempt to escape that. Probably sucked in by the affirmations of a few unique new friends or an especially cross-worthy psychologist.
I’m sorry for that hardship, short pede. On the upshot, if his wife is based she’ll be single soon.
The farthest away from republican I’ve gone is libertarian in the Romney/Ryan era. I still hold out hope for the Grand Old Party, but I demand intense Trumpification in the next several years.
There are some encouraging signs and some not. If Ted Cruz or someone equally based doesn’t run in 2024 I’m voting for the break-away Bring Back Stoning For Heresy ticket.
Once you're red pilled there's no going back. The mental gymnastics required to be a leftist only work with massive cognitive dissonance
If you possess the qualities of self-awareness and critical thinking, it's not possible to be a leftist.

They may know many things. The problem is that many things that they know are wrong. Paraphrasing President Reagan.
Nah I know a couple. The most egregious of which was someone who wasn't political, but was simping for a lesbian.
For the most part though, it isn't that they're converted, it's that they never were really right wing in the first place.

My sister held firm conservative beliefs until college. Went to Berkeley and got brainwashed.
Now do we have to say whooooooosh.win ??

This was well said. Maybe if we all stand on our heads, the slippery slope is actually a hill people keep inexplicably sliding up!
Didn't Scaramucci try this transition?
Agreed. Pretty sure Mooch just did whatever he thought would get him the most attention.
Powell was always a globalist. He stopped hiding it with the yellow cake kabuki.
It used to be about compassion, for sure. But like, generations ago.
“I voted Trump but this time I’m voting Democrat” said nobody ever

Odds are he voted Democrat in private because he very publicly voted for the Democrats during the impeachment farce.
Supreme Court Justices beg to differ....
I had a discussion with someone who claimed that they did this. Total liar of course.
