So what was an open source project got turned into a project mostly controlled by one corporation, until another corporation essentially took control away from them.
The browser itself has never been the product. The big corporations support the browser development in order to support their other monopolies. Trying to put censorship directly into the browser codebase? I wouldn't put it past them.

What your using seems fine. I hate saying it but reddit has a self hosting sub. They list several password managers. I just happen to read thing about bitwarden and tried it out and really like it. The sub also has several other solution to de-google and de-apple. And run your own services for your data. And if you using a pi you should look into making it a pihole for ad blocking. I use a vpn always on to my home server and the pihole blocks everything I want it too. Even ads in free apps (some not all). There is a way to block youtube ads but sometimes it breaks youtube and you can't watch anything.

I use DuckDuckGo Browser on my phone. It does a better job than Brave, imho. However for my desktop computer, I use Brave.
