I hate a shoehorned romance in any piece of media, no matter the context. It always takes away from the greater story and it’s almost always unrealistic and unbelievable. The way they shoehorn romance into action movies comes to mind. The target audience for explosions doesn’t care, we want to see explosions. You don’t have to attempt to cater to a wider demographic who’s not even interested in the first place.
The woke version is even worse, prepare to see it everywhere.
