Not only that, but they abuse the fuck out of the horses they rely on and livestock they raise. I lived on a rural road that was nearly overcome by Amish families. Friendly people, but then you see the way they treat their animals and it makes you incredibly sad.
When my parents sold their house, two Amish families were clamoring for the land, and we're both proud to announce they'll buy in cash. My parents got the house and land estimated at $110k, was looking for no lower than $92k, and waited on the Amish to go back to their elders who still lived in PA and controlled the family money. After a week one family got back to my father, and I saw him thru the window speaking to the guy. My dad comes in nearly laughing, and smiling wide. I asked him if he offered anything good, and my dad laughs and says "he offered us twenty nine thousand cash...."
Few people realize the Amish own horrific puppy mills. When I hear ‘Amish’, I cringe.
The deification of animals leads to less charity towards humans, CMM.
You can be against animal abuse and animal deification at the same time though. Puppy mills are fucked up.
