Snopes says it's unverified, but if you read through it talks about how her father said they're descended from a very prominent slave owner in Jamaica. It's unverified because they haven't checked her family tree to really make sure if she is or isn't related to the guy.
Snopes says it's unverified because, in truth, they really are not all that interested in the truth.
