More joggers get locked up for drugs because more joggers commit crime it's as simple as that

Agreed. I personally think weed is disgusting and stoners are filth. But, the Constitution does not delegate the authority to tell adult citizens what plants they can or can't possess or use to the Federal government. It's as simple as that to me. Federal drug prohibition is blatantly in violation of the Constitution. If it's not one of the powers the Constitution explicitly delegates to them, and it isn't, they aren't allowed to have a say in the matter.

Which proves the point in a way. 100 years ago people still had a more correct understanding and respect for the Constitution. Even the government knew that in order to ban alcohol, they would need an Amendment to do it. They couldn't just pass a bill and create and agency to do it by fiat. People still didn't accept it of course, but they at least did it the correct and legal way. And they had to do it the correct and legal way again by passing another Amendment to repeal the previous one.

Now people don't even know what the Constitution is, so the feds can get away with saying "we're banning this because we want to" and even people who are pro-weed don't even attack them from the Constitutional angle. Even all the pro-weed arguments are based off of trying to convince the government that marijuana is helpful and medicinal, and not that harmful, and all that. Trying to reason with the Feds to allow people to have marijuana because it shouldn't be banned. When the fact is, whether it should or shouldn't isn't even relevant. The Federal government never had the authority to have a say in it in the first place. It is not and never was their place to allow or disallow it at all.

Correct.

Though I disagree that those who opt for cannabis over, say, alcohol for relaxation or mood elevation are filth. Can confirm the opposite.

Same stance. I personally find it detestable, but the Federal government is not allowed to have a say in the matter. The States are free to do as they will though as all powers not delegated to the Federal government are reserved to the States or the people. So if the States and the people want to ban it, that's their choice.

Just dont think all people that smoke are losers living off the Govt. with no jobs, plenty of people out there that just like a hit or two to sleep or make a movie more interesting. But I know people that smoke all day long and are worthless, same with booze or anything else.

GAMECOCKPEDE 3 points ago +3 / -0

I smoke weed and fix walk in freezers all day, it’s the person doing the weed not the weed itself man

2
CQVFEFE 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fed decriminalization still keeps it illegal federally

Is addictive and lethal alcohol illegal?

What gets me is way back in the day during prohibition, they had to use a constitutional amendment... I guess they don't go by the constitution anymore.

2
BunnyPicnic 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've said the same thing for months. Trump would get a lot of left leaning voters if he decriminalized weed.

Trump should legalize Marijuana federally in October just to get everyone's head to spin.

What the fuck would they say then? That weed benefits whites more than it does blacks? That not locking up blacks for possession is racist?

13
ThePowerOfPrayer 13 points ago +13 / -0

There's no way they can legalize it because Pelosi will not give Trump that win.

Trump can order the DEA to reclassify it from Schedule 1, though, and issue an executive order to remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act.

Decrim would be worse than removing from Schedule

Decrim keeps it illegal federally
