Thats what kinda worries me, it makes me think they actually have something solid up their sleeve to play out still. The least of which would be voter fraud.
They're punting 2020. I believe this now. They knew he'd be tough to beat, and Pedo Joe and Heels Up Harris are about the worst ticket they could have come up with. They are Democrat Bob Dole/ Jack Kemp. Pretty meh candidates that you throw out there as a lifetime achievement/ hope to advance the career.
Incumbents are difficult to unseat anyway, they know that. Despite their gaslighting, Trump is a very popular president. If they wanted to depress their base, what would they do differently? If they ran someone the base loves like Bernie or Pocahontas and they got smoked by Trump it would hurt their ideology more than running milquetoast candidates as sacrificial lambs. That's what I think anyway.

In 2024 dems will be livid after 8 years of Trump (much how gop was after Obama) and then they put in a superstar to basically run unopposed. I have very little in the gop as a general rule to put up good candidates, esp considering how they did and still do resist trump despite the great benefit he has to Republicans and America alike.
