I think what they'll try to do is create a perfect environment for Joe to debate in. They'll have friendly people controlling everything and debating on his behalf but pretending to be moderators. They'll keep the snippets short, so Joe has little time to embarrass himself when he's forced to speak, and they will do it remotely so he can have an ear-piece/handlers there with him, and they can pull the plug or make the stream fuck up, citing network issues.
They may also try to do a 2v2 debate with VP's there too, and then Biden can let Kamala debate for him.
