If you want to look at a MSM article you can avoid giving them the traffic by:

1. right-clicking the link and select "copy link address."

2. go to https://archive.is/ and paste it in the search box at the bottom.

If someone has already archived it you will see the archived article. If not, it gives you the option to then archive the article (box at top) and you never actually give the site the traffic.
