Just like the news, every local station has a reporter alone outside 20 feet away from a camera guy with no other humans within a hundred feet, yet they wear a mask to do their story. The one job where you really need to see the whole face and they cover it for no reason other than to demonstrate compliance.

But the reverse is more fitting: Not wearing masks is a sign of defiance - a sign of dissidence.

The "experts" also just recommended wearing masks at home alone and during sex. I'm beginning to think that these ever more absurd mandates are a mass psychology experiment to see how much insanity they get people to comply with. To see how ripe they are for a totalitarianism. Masks are a lot like ties. They are a social marker, an indicator of one's caste in the rat race. To see a business man in the business sector wearing casual clothing instead of the usual dress is off putting to the public observer. Though it may not produce the same hyper-animated reactions as non compliant mask wearers it still causes a reaction in the same manner.
Everyone knows deep down that the masks were always a show of compliance by the wearer and had absolutely nothing to do with saving lives or one's health.
You're more likely to contract a virus from a contaminated mask while alone than without one. Your cat could take a piss in it, a fly could lay eggs in it. There's no debate, the science is settled.

This is just an observation. Republicans/conservatives want to win an argument based on facts. Lefties will invent “facts” to fit their argument. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP TRYING TO RATIONALIZE WITH THEM. Have convictions in your beliefs and do what you know is right and pressure your elected officials to represent your beliefs.
If COVID fear was legitimate, then you would want people to go without wearing a mask whenever possible to save disposable masks and to prevent people from being overly exposed to the pathogens in the masks that they keep reusing.
