This is true. Higher education is on the brink of collapse and I’m not sure if people know it. A catastrophic event such as this could very easily start the downward spiral where people just stop opting to go to college at a rate that the schools aren’t prepared for. The school administrators are dumb because they are so used to their services being an inelastic good, but that’s been changing. If you do nothing but offer online education, reduce social interaction, no sports, and continue to take a political stance in the classroom, than eventually people are going to wake up and see that half the benefit and fun of college is gone, so why pay the insane prices they charge for such a diminished benefit.
The public school system needs to torn down and rebuilt from scratch. Refusing to open just hastens their demise. They have checkmated themselves.
