The President just said if he is re-elected, the first thing he is going to do is eliminate the federal employment payroll tax. The way that can be done is have corporate taxes and a flat 2-3% sales tax and that gives us the choice if we want to pay any federal taxes.that's great cause the money we save from not paying fed. tax would save us 8-15% even paying the 2-3% that's for people making less than 100K this well also stop the blue states from steeling our money for their communist ways for their states. EDIT everyone needs too know the president never said he was going to start a new user tax, that was my assumption to make up the revenue

Sales tax is the fairest tax (if any tax can be fair at all). If you SPEND more you PAY more in taxes.
Naturally the MORE money you have the MORE you are taxed.
Still Sales tax is a bogus concept. To buy and sell you always have to give some to the government? What do they have to do with it?
The only legitimate taxes are tariffs and property taxes (we are the feudal tenants of the state; this can never be escaped).
I know. I'm not quite 100% on the taxation is theft... but even if I was some theft is needed to fund the state. A tiny minuscule completely outward threat focused state. But still a state that needs funding.
So how to engage in the fairest method of taxation? Spending. If one spends a lot they are taxed more. If someone wants to use the state's money, which they guarantee the value of, they are taxed upon the amount used. Easy to evade it really by just bartering. So if you live out in the country you can literally trade tatters and sheep milk for an oil check if you wanted to and pay no taxes.
There are just taxes.
The permanent income tax, by which income is quietly siphoned off by the government, is unjust. (So is a permanent sales tax). The only just permanent tax is the property tax, which is rent owed for living on the state’s land. Land rights are relative.
The progressive income tax, by itself, is actually a just way to apportion tax revenue, in a pinch. But to keep it going for 107 years? By making an income tax perpetual, the implication is that the government has a right to a share in all of our income, which is false. (So this is why it’s theft the way we do it). We do owe some fealty to the state because of its services, which is why the old school, one-time-only occasional temporary tax levied on income is just. But big governments are incapable of levying taxes justly.
and sales tax is voluntary. If you don't want to pay the tax then don't buy "sales tax" items. There are many exemptions for food and the such as well.
No fair to those who retired and are living on money they already paid tax on.
As opposed to those working being taxed three times? There is no fairness in the current system and we could easily institute an exemption of prior taxes upon the new sales tax meaning you simply save the receipts and total it all up, then get back the taxes until you reach balance. Then you start paying sales tax again.
I don't think so. I think the fairest tax would be if we could somehow figure out people's burden on society and then tax them accordingly.
The idea of taxing someone more because they make more stupid. The idea of taxing some more because they spend more is also stupid. Making money doesn't hurt other people. And spending money doesn't hurt other people. So neither of those things should be punished. Essentially, that's what taxes are. A punishment.
but if we must have taxes, and since there is no way for us to determine who is using what unless we go full on Orwellian and track every person's actions, I would say just do a flat sales tax of one or two percent on everything regardless of the item, regardless of whether or not it's food or essential. And then another flat tax of one or two percent on income, regardless of W2, 1099, capital gains, etc.
Payroll tax is stupid, that effectively punishes employers for having the audacity to hire people and pay them.
Doing these things would certainly reduce the overall tax revenue the government collects, but we also waste a ton of money on a bunch of s*** so if we were to cut out all the b******* and do this proposed tax plan, it will all work out.

What are you going to tax on this burden? Are you going to euthanize it?
The poor burden society most. I think you meant benefit, as in a progressive wealth tax but not fucked up.
No. I meant it more in the sense of peoples contribution should be proportionate to the public resources they consume.
Imagine people who break laws. Or even people who drive more should pay more in taxes for wear and tear on the road. Same with utilities. This is more from a matter of principle.
Pragmatically, I'm in favor of a progressive income tax but I think that everyone should pay taxes even those at the very very bottom, I think everyone should have some skin in the game. And I think that the top income bracket should be pushed out a couple million dollars - it starts at a much too low income and is a much too high percentage.
I also think the tax code should be able to fit on a single 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper.
