A dear friend of mine, who voted for Trump in 2016, refuses to vote for Trump in 2020. He acknowledges that he has done great things for our country financially etc. and in general has been a good president, but he insists that "He says too many stupid things on Twitter. He needs handlers."
Despite that, he's definitely not voting for Biden, which is good. He is a very intelligent guy, one of the most logical people I've known. He understands that radical left policies are bad and Joe Biden is insane, yet somehow he doesn't understand that we can't afford people to be wishy washy.
He's told me that he believes both parties are corrupt and it's important to vote based on more than party so he's voting Libertarian. But when I questioned him about Jo Jorgensen it seems like he doesn't know anything about her. Ironically, he's still voting party over person.
What can I do to win him back over? I need to make him understand that there is a reason Trump says everything he does, and that this is more than "just another election."
Your friend is a micro value voter. You and I are macro value voters. Help him understand that on a micro value level George Bush was a great person, however, on a macro level he was a presidential disaster ie two wars, thousands of American soldiers dead and $3 trillion added to the debt. He was so bad in fact he got a community organizer elected president. In contrast, Trump on a macro level has been a phenomenal president with huge successes even though on a micro level he could tweet less.

Explain to them that there is a difference in what is said, and what is done. That is the way of Washington.
Trump can say anything he wants, he has that right, as we all do. What makes a difference is what he has actually done. People who worry about what he says on Twitter are guided by feelings.
“Handlers” non elected deep state? Nah.
