Yes I used it to look up stats for one site. AFAIK they dont' blacklist any sites form page ranking yet and I don't believe they manipulate results, so while the owners might be unethical, the resource itself probably isn't too compromised. Also, I've got all my adblockers enabled etc and all kinds of privacy extensions so they're not getting any money or much data from me.
What's the appropriate non-leftist alternative to Alexa?
That's what you would think, but as we, as a site, have had a massive increase in traffic, almost exclusively from the us, our us number continues to drop. All while we have more traffic than huffpo
I can say with certainty that, unfortunately, DDG is not as good as Google for highly technical or academic searches. For general use, yes, but not for everything.
I'm with you. Avoid commie heaps of trash like google, apple, microsoft, amazon, etc as much as possible. Especially ridiculous to link to those sites from here!
I know DuckDuckGo isn't perfect but it's pretty great now, just tweak the settings to suit your search preferences and it does the job nine times out of ten.
All my family and most of my friends use DuckDuckGo - it might not be possible to deGoogle entirely, but we certainly shouldn't be using them for searching.
How about you stop telling me what to do. I expect such demands from the left, not lovers of freedom and liberty to make your own decisions. Google provides superior results over google for many of the things I search for regarding technical info. I will use duckduckgo for what it's good for -- searching for things I don't want google to track/trend.
While I get your point, understand that you are using Alexa, which is just as bad. You realize that is AWS, therefore bezos and wapo, right?

OK, but what's the alternative to Alexa?
DuckDuckGo is as good a s Google, I use it all the time. I also use Brave Browser as well.

hey dont you tell me what i can and cannot do. i use both
Yes but as a community we're not even at 50:50 usage yet are we? At the very least the figures should be equal by now
Unfortunately, stats like that are likely flawed. I cannot prove it, but think logical. If a site tracks you and others the traffic will be higher.
Well how does four times compare with users of other websites? I'm happy to hear DDG is that popular.

Use Firefox and block their trackers with badger
Nope. Mozilla is infested with evil SJW extremists and they now put SJW propaganda into your browser.
What you should be using is a fork of Firefox which is independent of the assholes at Mozilla. Most people pick Waterfox.
Some people say DuckDuckGo's privacy is just a marketing ploy.
I use it, until I know for sure. It might be better than Chrome.
I heard recently (here) google tracks the speed and flow of how you type into the search bar and uses that to uniquely identify you.
Why DuckDuckGo? Ever think about startpage? (FKA ixquick). Even Alex Jones would agree.
Fair point, I just want people to stop using Google.
Perhaps we could make a sticky on safe/appropriate to use software/website etc
