folks y'all are forgetting the Original Sin of the mozilla foundation.
remember Brendan Eich? current CEO of Brave Browser, former CEO of Mozilla? he was run out of town, forced to resign, when they found out that he donated a thousand dollars to California Proposition 8 (against legalising gay marriage).
thought control has always been their Master Objective. glad to see them suffer.
That's why I quit using Firefox, when it was once my primary browser. I use Brave, now, but I didn't know that Eich was their CEO. That's a happy surprise.
Not just bloat, they keep introducing shitloads of bugs. I haven't found a version more recent than FF40 (forty) that functions without constantly crashing.
That sounds like something on your end, or one of your addons, or you're visiting some strange sites. Not to defend them, but I always have the newest version and it never crashes
Would like to know as well. Brave blocks them fine on my PC but not on android devices. If you find a fix alert me please, currently stuck using Firefox + Ublock Origin on phone.
Not exactly the answer to you question, but try NewPipe as an alternative YouTube app for Android, it is available on F-droid and provides add free YouTube as well as background listening.
Honestly, I have to recommend against distant forks. While Dissenter is setup to automatically pull from the upstream Brave sources, Gab doesn't have the personnel to dedicate to browser maintenance.
This is a problem because browsers are highly complex, and oftentimes particularly egregious exploits are tucked away behind press embargoes until all the major distributions are able to apply the upstream patches.
For now, as long as Gab's automated tooling keeps up with Brave, that's probably OK, but I wouldn't rely on it. All it would take is for this tooling to fail for a week during which a really bad bug surfaces that can allow remote exploitation.
I believe Dissenter used to be available in the Chrome web store as an extension, until Google removed it then Gab was forced to create the Dissenter browser.
Yanno everyone, all jokes aside, I find (now chromium based) Edge not so bad, it’s basically like chrome but without all the crap. It’s actually better than Firefox. Early edge was awful though.
I also still use IE11, because I like to annoy corporate.
I love Edge now. I've used all of them including Brave. Edge looks nice, functions well and allows add-ons that give me a lot of control over things like ad blocking.
There are people that still get triggered when you mention Brave browser. They immediately bring up the CEO when it wasn't even part of the conversation.
There was a recent movie that was a sort of a Beatles movie the title escapes me but I think it came out last summer. The gist of the movie is that everyone in the world forgot who the Beatles are except like three people so one guy decide to profit off of it. Starts releasing Beatles hits as if they are his own. He gets to Hollywood and wants to make “the white album” even though he is Indian they won’t let him because it’s too “racist”
Yes. I hated the ending though. Main actor too wishywashy. Yes he wants the poisoned chalice but then no he doesn’t? Ugh too black and white. Not enough gray
Les Misérables will have to change their song about french poverty, because Some one forgot to tell BLM marxists with no education of 'white history' that few with money had slaves, regular people could not afford to feed an extra child, let alone a slave. It is not a black person singing. 'master of the house,' That is a white domestic worker's song about their employer.
The poor have to steal bread io eat- comes from here.
We have to erase our cultural history because of someone with no education assuming it is an insult that has something to do with them-
We have the most narcissistic, history-ignorant people, that wish t re-write our history- to center them, so they can alter it to say, they invented everything. After the Fentanyl 'floyd' incident, Omar was screaming for everyone to burn down her own city. Part of Biden's campaign was to get a seat at his funeral, these people are phony.
Never forget- Jessie Smollett was suppose to kick off the riots, he was discovered to be fake, so two body cams had to be suppressed, and innocent people had to be arrested to kick it off for Floyd.
I thought master of the house was the Threnadiers' song. They ran an inn. They robbed their guests. And they agreed to take care of Cosette, but treated her as slave labor though she was a toddler. (Castle in a Cloud)
This is poor white culture that had nothing to do with the African slave trade, why buy a slave when you can just arrest a white person, and rent their labor from the prison? They are cheaper to rent, then buying a real slave. You get arrested, it is for life, 'the poor white people' died in jail for poverty related crime, but they had a chance to be free- if they went to the colonies to work as a slave for someone else..
People like this were also rounded up to be put to work as indentured servants in the US, against their will if out past city curfew, and many died on the boat or within a year of the hard labor and harsh conditions.
Where are their reparations? Poor young women, were literally kidnapped off the street walking home from work[or did not have a home, or were prostitutes]- and put on boats - sold as wives, to men they did not even meet, and they were 'property' for seven years- but they would have kids, and no where to go - when their 'prison-term' was up.
Hans Christian Anderson's 'Little Match girl' is sympathetic to the type of street life children faced being poor in Europe. Americans earned our place, and system of climbing out of street poverty and owning your own home-is for everybody coming here. There is nothing wrong with this culture, and no where else has a system open to everyone where someone could be that poor, - and become rich.
There are very few people out there that can't find suffering in their family tree.
Les Miserables was about the French. Like you said, the little match girl, the poverty masses of Europe, the Irish starved by the British, the Jews trapped in the ghettos, the Russian serfs, the Chinese attacked by the Japanese in WW2 and then by Mao, the Japanese themselves, starving under the reign of a suicidal empire, the impoverished Muslims, seeing the rich marry many women while their told their only chance at female companionship is to blow up a bunch of heathens...
If pain were water, the world would drown.
Slavery was certainly an ill, but hardly the only one. But it's a pressure point, a flaw. And I mean a flaw like a flaw in a rock or a piece of furniture, that if you put enough pressure on it, can break the whole thing. And I think that's what the globalists are trying to do.
But, The only Slavery left is the Child trafficking, which these same globalists support, and - Want to legalize everywhere and use to run their empire.
No thanks, our system is just fine, but, we need to get rid of the Pedophiles that groom children with stories, violate them and their trust-and leave them with broken lives as adults when allowed to live.
Child trafficking = slavery is a great observation. Pedophilia = sex slavery is a good one too. We need to pound this home with the left if only to make it crystal clear what it is they are pushing for the normies.
Another fan of Les Mis I see. I may just have to put that on while I'm at work today. So many good songs.
I wish someone would make a full length audio version of The Greatest Showman. I know it's not an accurate portrayal of his life, but I still love it. And damn...Wolverine can sing.
I liked the soundtrack. Was kind of less impressed when I saw it on Broadway. Not sure why. It moved so quickly, you never had a chance to breathe.
I have a decent cousin who I owed a favor to. I offered to take him to see Les Mis, but he wasn't interested. So we saw a different play. I asked him why he shrugged of Les Mis. He told me he once dated a girl who wouldn't let him touch her until they listened to the entire Les Mis soundtrack.
What's odd about it? The French didn't give a shit about American freedom and democracy, they did it to weaken the British as part of their centuries old war/hostility
That is the way the world works- we can't change things like that-
The US OUTlawed slavery 1865, and gave black men the right to vote and run for office in 1870- No other 'White' country in the world offered that-
We already integrated, but the Democratic party held a grudge about the slavery thing - and still to this day try to create a slave class and a 1%. -but we can protect those in our boarders and make decisions to benefit them.
The Republican Party was formed to free slaves. We were all Federalists before-. There were fights over the first decoration of independence, because it was discovered that alot of the people with money- wanted to keep the slaves, and threatened to reject signing it and taking their chances with the British that would allow them to keep slaves-if it was included at that time. We had to go to war with each other later- to win that right- and it is spiting on the graves of those that died to keep this country free, if you erase what they did for us.
IMHO
*edit: Not Federalists, [another name-but I have to go to work soon]
no the internet is sexist. antennas and ethernet cables are phallic symbols of the patriarchy. we need vagina shaped interfaces and antenna except if its a female penis then it can be that shape too. so long as its not a cis male phallus. (obviously /s)
This is happening all over the place in tech.
Master Branch -> Main Branch,
Whitelist/Blacklist -> Allowlist/Blocklist,
Scrum Master -> Scrum...?
These people are flat out racist assigning race to the Master/Apprentice (or even master/slave, you can have same-race master/slave) metaphor or light (white/black) metaphors.
considering that the word "slave" is from "Slav", as in "Slavic people" when the Ottomen muzzies went raping and pillaging in the Balkans...makes it even more absurd.
I'm starting to cash in on all my Irish and polish victim-hood points. Then i pepper in a little of my sicilian and german immigrant oppression as well. Give me money world.
make people afraid to speak and thus afraid to think
That's it in a nutshell. Everything they do is about holding or gaining power. An ignorant, brain-washed, non-thinking population allows those evil entities to flourish. Look back at history when an evil regimes starts to take power or has taken power, who are the people in society they eliminate first? Answer: The ones who can think for themselves and can inspire others to do so.
Over 90% of their income comes from a deal they struck with Google back when Firefox had strong market share. That deal is up in a couple months and Firefox has gone from around 30% market share to like ... 4%.
I was quickly corrected at work when using "manpower" to describe our factory's available labor whilst performing some resource planning. It's everywhere.
As a woman, I'm offended that they don't like the word "manpower." It implies that adding "man" to a word makes it property of men, thus disenfranchising me as a female. Very important turning points in our history suddenly have nothing to do with women like me, all because of our tendency to simplify and shorten "humankind" to "man." Apparently all of the many rights fought for don't count, because actually they were given in generosity and not implicit in our founding.
... Now, since we're both equally offended (though I'm sure they didn't even bother to walk through their reasoning), I guess it's a wash and you can say whatever you want. ;)
I’m still laughing about that... “Refocus some teams on projects designed to make money”... Holy shit... Your MBA was really put to the test coming up with that business plan.
In other words:
"93% of our income is based on goodwill from Google that stops in November. Our recent VPN initiative is a total failure, we just destroyed our mobile app, and desktop browser market share continues to decline, with ours dropping like a rock."
I know it's an example of propaganda being the explicit inversion of reality. Being under house arrest and having your business and job canceled is creating more isolation than ever!
Jesus Christ, I’m so sick of hearing that. I immediately change the channel/station. And half of them don’t even make sense. “In these uncertain times, Subaru is here for you.” Really??? Are you going to give me one of your hippie mobiles that’s made out of love? Fuck outta here.
"We're all in this together," say the Hollywood celebs and Democrat elites from their million dollar mansions with fridges stocked full of 30 thousand dollars of premium ice cream while the common people wonder how they're going to put food on their table next week if they aren't allowed to return to work or open their business.
Yes. They say they support black lives, marginalized people, children...yet they are in their homes with swimming pools and all the public pools which taxpayers have paid for are closed. Easy to quarantine at home when you have your own pool all summer. What about those little black kids around 38tb and Chicago in Minneapolis? Where do they cool off? Has any celebrity hosted them at their home this summer for swimming?
In these uncertain time, you need to invest in your future; you need an investment in your family's safety and well being. No one wants to worry where their next meal is coming from, or how you are going to relax. That's why I always eat at Jone's Good Ass BBQ & Foot Message.
Same shit! My big bro used to mute commercials when we were kids and we hated it for some reason, he always told us we don't need to hear that shitnits all poisoning us.. back then he was ahead of his time in wokeness still and still is.
They hired too many diversity officers to make sure they have appropriate programmer quotas. Then they needed to hire their friends and then make a job for them.
Mozilla is suppose to be a lean lightweight company not a 1000 person beast. SJW's ousted the real CEO who then founded brave and replaced him with someone who puts ideology above business.
I haven't tried Brave for a couple of years. Last time I did it felt like a stress testing mechanism for my CPU fan. Has it improved, performance-wise?
I've been using it for probably two years without major problems. I've only had an issue with it once -- I installed an extension for Google Chrome and it did exactly what you described. I removed the extension and it went back to normal.
It's really improved over the past few years. I used to have to switch between Brave and Chrome often because Brave couldn't open certain sites, but that's a rarity now. I think I've had to use Chrome maybe once this past year.
The person was asking why brave would care, but plenty of people care about that sort of thing. It's inexcusable not to have basic functionality. Also brave has been caught running certain links through their own referral network (foggy on the details but something like that).
Also brave has been caught running certain links through their own referral network
This was totally blown out of proportion and was corrected within a day or two by their dev team. You're going to see a lot of shills going after Brave because of its rapidly growing ad platform (Brave Rewards) which looks to cancel out Google as the middle man in the online ad-space.
Preamble: I am not an online advertiser, nor have I ever used the Google advertising platform
My thought is; if the browser doesn't go exactly to the place I send it, or at least tell me that it's rewriting something like that ("Change links to help support Brave" setting) then it's failed as a browser. If that's what you can see happening to your information, what can't you see?
Every browser uses referral links to generate money. That in and of itself wasn't the issue. The problem was after an update Brave referral links began auto-completing as default links to their partner websites. It was fixed within a day or two, no user privacy was compromised, and Brave didn't receive any money as a result of the issue.
I about 5 years ago I put my browsers in Ramdisk to save my SSD from needless browser cache writes. Chrome was extra bad at that and no option to define cache location.
Chrome (which brave is based off of does that) IIRC there are ways to get it on a different drive via a command line switch and a windows program. Also discord is the same way. With that being said the amount of companies being lazy about that is too dam high
I mean anybody who runs Windows when they don't have to doesn't have much to complain about when it comes to shitty architecture - they are fully embracing it by choosing to run the worst designed and built OS out there.
You need to install a Linux distro with a open source dev team of 1 man, 3 chickens, and a box of hot pockets. Make sure you use a shrunken head for the voodoo ritual or the OS will wipe your hard drive and give your graphics card aids.
https://mxlinux.org/ works for most hardware just fine. There are a ton of distros. https://distrowatch.com/ If one doesn't work out of the box for you, try another. If you start at the top and work your way down, I'd be surprised if you didn't find something by #5. I'd skip Ubuntu though. Mint is a good place to start as well.
Linux sucks balls compared to windows if all you know is how to install pirated win iso. In win10 everything looks pretty and stuff just works while linux desktops are still an ugly mess.
Brave browser came about because Mozilla SJWs forced out CEO Brendan Eich for donating his own money to an anti gay marriage group. He resigned and started the Brave Browser project. I've been using it for years alongside Chrome. The last few updates have made it so that I only Brave. And they're part of the PayID initiative.
If I had to guess I would say that most layoffs are probably inclusion officers, HR, and shit like that, and not actually important coders who are the backbone of the company.
You're aware a lot of companies release some/most of their software under FOSS licenses and actually pay people to develop it, right?
You're aware a lot of open source is written by people for hobbyist reasons, in many cases, because they can or because they want to, right?
Many of these people have real jobs and write FOSS because they enjoy it. It has no bearing on whether the developer is for one particular cause or another. Mozilla is doing what they're doing because they're run by leftist bureaucrats and have a history of idiotic hiring practices that could be argued to be anything but merit.
...and guess what? We're seeing that with all these other "woke" companies too. This isn't isolated to open source.
I'm also not sure how you argue Torvalds "fucked himself into a corner," because the reality is that he's a household name and has worked for a number of large companies. If anything has impacted his employment status, it's probably his abrasive personality more than anything else.
The other side of the coin is that you're completely missing the utility of FOSS. Security libraries (cryptography, notably) that are not open source become black boxes where you can only hope they're doing the right thing. If it's open source, it can be audited by third parties, and the code can be analyzed by anyone to validate that it does what it says on the tin.
There's also the advantage of reproducible builds where certain code can demonstrably be shown to produce certain binary output guaranteeing that it wasn't manipulated in the interim.
Seeing as how I've been in software for over 20 years, yes. That's not the point.
I'm happy for you. I have too.
And for the whole BuT If EveRyOnE Can SeE iT It'LL Be SecuRe is completely meaningless when the many eyeballs are about as proficient as dogs are at flying planes. You do know that companies could purchace the source code to Windows, or enter agreements to see it, right?
I do, and those licenses are prohibitively expensive or not even available to smaller organizations that would otherwise be able to audit Windows.
And there are probably NDAs that prohibit them from discussing the findings of their audits in the first place.
In order to be sure it has not been modified, you need to audit the compiler, and the compiler made to compile that compiler, and the compiler used to compile that compiler, etc.
Non-sequitur, given the above quote.
You're aware that if you have a license to view the Windows sources this doesn't include Visual Studio or any of the build toolchain Microsoft has used to generate the binaries you're using.
So now we're in the exact same boat.
Except not quite, because at least the non-bootstrap compiler in, say, GCC can be audited.
Then you need to audit the hardware in the same way.
Not unique to FOSS.
So unless you do it yourself, completely, for everything, have you actually audited anything, or have you just deferred the responsibility of auditing to someone, so you don't get the blame?
Not unique to FOSS.
Open sourcing your own projects just basically fuck yourself out of the sweat of your brow.
Not necessarily. You're assuming that people are writing code strictly for monetary compensation. If they do it for $DAY_JOB and then do it as a hobby, more power to them.
I'm not sure why you see this as a zero sum game. It's not.
I'll commend for trying something different all the same. Everyone hates ads but sites have to get money from somewhere so it's not enough to just block ads and call it a day. We need a new model for income that doesn't involve raiding the privacy of users and selling personal info to advertisers.
The rewards are cool for those of us who work on a stupid computer all day. I am always staring at this thing, programming or writing or taking a break and browsing here.
I turned on the ads and now I've made about $45 in the Basic Attention Token crypto that is the reward. It wouldn't be worth it unless you are on the computer 8+ hours a day.
Well it is a cryto currency that actively trades. So if the value of BAT increases significantly in the future, so too will that $45 in BAT you've made.
It's true. BAT/USD has been relatively flat over the three years since it was launched. Maybe in the future it'll go to the moon, but it seems like most altcoins rise and die over the course of a few years.
Firefox definitely has the best dev tools. Right click, "View Page Info", "Media" tab... all the image links on the site, resolution (and scaled size), clearly enumerated. Oh yeah, and the CSS Style Editor in the inspector is head and shoulders above anything else I've used... you can create and edit style sheets live right in browser.
I like it. is 64 bit so it doesn't crash going over 4gb of ram. highly customizable like vanilla firefox. Ad blockers still eat up tons of ram if you like having many windows and tabs open. will eventually slow down when this happens and needs a browser restart. trivial issue with addons like session manager and memory restart
I used it for about a year or two after chrome dropped flash (.swf files, specifically) support since it was the only browser I could find that still did. It ran very smoothly, unlike the behemoth that is chrome chugging away at my cpu, which was nice. It still works with all the extensions you'd normally use for firefox, too.
I'm unsure how much privacy you really get with it, but it being open source and running way smoother than chrome was pretty nice.
Eventually it updated and stopped allowing users to enable flash support, so I dropped it. Couldn't find any that did, so I gave up on flash support and moved to Brave afterwards.
Probably 250 HB1 Indians are working. The rest of the American employees were probably given the pink slip. This is how tech companies in the liberal Bay Area work. They like to virtual signal but they don’t give a damn about American employees let alone BLM.
Primarily Taiwanese. This labor reduction (aka layoff) will result in closing the Mozilla Taipei, Taiwan office entirely and laying off all those employees.
I stopped using Firefox back when they banned the Dissenter extension from their app store.
Their "about" page still has this quote:
"We want to give users the knowledge and the power to make informed decisions by themselves to prevent abusive practices."
Clearly that doesn't extend to decisions they don't approve of.
I was not able to find any information related to it having been banned for privacy or security concerns.
I did find a page quoting Mozilla's alleged response that the Dissenter extension was being used to "degrade, intimidate, incite violence against, or encourage prejudicial action against someone or a group based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, religion, geographic location or other protected category." (source)
In other words, typical vague cover for suppressing free speech.
I don't recall a privacy argument, if that's the case then they should probably ban most existing add-ons. I think the excuse was hate speech. No definition provided, and no explanation why they don't ban other apps you can say mean things with. It's been a while though, maybe there was more to it.
Soros owns Mozilla now, so don't expect anything positive from that shitshow. If you're still using firefox, don't anymore. They're tracking you like a deer with every move you make.
thats fake news. Mozilla belongs to mozilla foundation and cannot actually be bought. its directed by the board members.
effectively it belongs to mitchel baker if anyone, but it's a nonprofit.
you could say the board follows soros orders if you want. the person that followed soros, katharina borchert, got laid off yesterday
no im not saying that either, im just stating how it is, you can have your own theories based on this.
its also not "peds vs you".. dont be such a leftist :p
At a time most people are at home looking for shit to do. Especially kids of all ages.
Something like this is doubly bad. People in this industry do not physically need to go to work. They can all work from home.
Then again this is what happens when you hire retards who sit on Twitter 24/7. COVID doesn't affect negatively a purely online business like this at all.
If you're not going to use Firefox (which, again, is FOSS) for whatever reason, at least support the one fork that's actively doing something against woke culture.
Yeah, it must really be hard on an company producing web browsing tools to have everyone locked up in their houses for months on end. You know what those companies really need to thrive? People outside doing stuff.
So what should I replace Firefox with guys? I was only using it because I refuse to use Chrome out of protest of google. I am using DuckDuckGo already.
I would also recommend Brave. It's basically like using Chrome (you can even install Chrome extensions in the exact same way), but without Google having their grubby, evil hands all over you.
It wouldn't surprise me. Their news search is pretty much the same Left-wing crap as Google at this point. No, they're not flat out omitting Breitbart...yet. But it's fairly worthless.
I've heard some people crowing about Opera in the past in regard to tracking/privacy, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I've used it on and off for years. It's OK as a browser, but it's trying to be more than it is and is filled with unnecessary bloat. If you use the newsfeed, it's pretty cucked and they don't allow you to add your own sources.
Brave is OK. Considering who's behind it, I'd think it would be better. Plus, it's basically a repackaged Chrome and I'm not a fan of Chrome.
I use Opera and love it, mainly because of the highlight search and conversion function. They were bought out by a large Chinese consortium some years ago, but the company still operates out of Norway and has to abide by those strict privace laws, supposedly. I'd hate to switch, but may.
They're closing their "Taipei" locations. That's the Chinese name for Taiwan. Mozilla is doing something worse. They're listening to China and doing what they're being told.
Whilst I agree that China probably has its fingers in Mozilla’s finances, Taipei is the capital city of Taiwan, not a mainland term for the whole island.
I'm an IT guy, and used to deploy Firefox to every computer I worked on. Hundreds, maybe thousands of PCs over the years. Once Mozilla started this woke garbage, I never recommended their software again, and removed it from my personal machines. They can rot in hell.
Mozilla (FireFox) was co founded by Brendan Eich. He invented JavaScript as well. They ousted him because he donated to organizations that opposed gay marriage.
If you want to support him, he created Brave. Brave is a browser based on open source Chromium. It blocks ads and gives you many security options.
the firefox engine is actually pretty good and faster than chrome since quantum. but their management is poop. Mitchel baker is the original sjw. raking in 2.5m a year while running the company to the ground, and she also fired Eich for wrong-voting
oh yeah another one is eric rescola.
leader because of his religion, he helped backdooring dual ec (encryption) and was famous for that but somehow didnt lose his job over it. hes currently renaming all master and shit in the next version of the tls protocol that you use right now to connect to tdw. hes paid a million a year for this important work.
As much as I like to see woke companies go broke, this is really bad. Firefox was the only viable alternative to chrome (google) based browsers. Even Microsoft's Edge is now chrome based. While occasionally I also use Dissenter, Firefox is still my main browser.
I really hate their SJW bullshit, but there are two reasons I still used it 1) they are more privacy focused than chrome 2) they are not google.
Chrome doesn't have a multi account containers extension like in in Firefox. Chrome is more of a ram hog than Firefox since the quantum update.
Since Firefox fired their security team I really hate that I may have to make Dissenter my main browser now. If there was a viable 3rd choice I would jump on it in a second.
There are many, MANY other browsers. The comments in here list them, and there's a Wikipedia page that has them too. Brave, Opera, Waterfox, Pale Moon, Vivaldi, are just a few.
I'll have to look into Opera. Brave and Vivaldi are google chrome based and Waterfox and Pale Moon are based on outdated Firefox builds.
EDIT: Opera is chrome based too.
Mitchell Baker is why I don't use Firefox any longer. It's a good browser but I use a browser and don't want the lectures on wokeness. It started when they kicked out the founder cuz he didn't support theLGBQXYZAFGJHREYJNJTH agenda.
He started Brave browser and that's what I use. Sure it's built on open source chromium (so is chrome and edge) but the basics are solid.
Going downhill ever since they removed their co-founder, Brandon Eich. He created Javascript, fucking idiots at Mozilla. Oh well, fuck em, Brave browser it is!
Ever since Mozilla fired Brendan Eich for opposing homosexual "marriage", I have used his Brave Browser. But once Gab developed Dissenter Browser, I switched to that instead.
I've been using firefox for years, although I may change soon. They have been spewing liberal garbage in their pocket feature. Yesterday I came across an article written by a soyboy who wrote a multi paragraph article on why he hated trucks. Firefox has also shown messages saying something about 'misinformation and racism regarding the coronavirus'. What garbage.
Yeah, that was the latest coordinated campaign against Facebook. Basically, Facebook wasn't censoring enough so the rest of the cabal accused them of being racist Nazis basically.
$500M in annual revenue, but they couldn't survive because they were bloated - 1000 employees and a CEO that pulls in $2.5M/yr. So what do they do? Lay off their Servo team members (which worked on Firefox) and their security response team. What a mismanaged clusterfuck.
Anyone find it weird that THE LEFT wants to boycott Facebook? Like THEY'RE ON YOUR SIDE! Definitely. Just because they won't directly censor Trump ads does NOT mean they aren't on your side.
Not to forget they just yesterday they replaced "Master Password" with "Primary Password".
I still think master password was a great improvement from the previous name: Mastah! Mastah! Password...
Mastah! Let’s kill da ho! Beeeeeetch!!!!
folks y'all are forgetting the Original Sin of the mozilla foundation.
remember Brendan Eich? current CEO of Brave Browser, former CEO of Mozilla? he was run out of town, forced to resign, when they found out that he donated a thousand dollars to California Proposition 8 (against legalising gay marriage).

That's why I quit using Firefox, when it was once my primary browser. I use Brave, now, but I didn't know that Eich was their CEO. That's a happy surprise.
like IE, the only use Firefox has now is if you are web developer and need to support it.
Not for long.. 4.3% market share https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share/mobile/united-states-of-america
Not just bloat, they keep introducing shitloads of bugs. I haven't found a version more recent than FF40 (forty) that functions without constantly crashing.
That sounds like something on your end, or one of your addons, or you're visiting some strange sites. Not to defend them, but I always have the newest version and it never crashes
how do you get the android brave browser to block youtube ads?
Would like to know as well. Brave blocks them fine on my PC but not on android devices. If you find a fix alert me please, currently stuck using Firefox + Ublock Origin on phone.
Not exactly the answer to you question, but try NewPipe as an alternative YouTube app for Android, it is available on F-droid and provides add free YouTube as well as background listening.
Various YouTube mirror sites such as yewtu.be, and hooktube.com don't have YouTube ads.
Install Newpipe or YouTube Vanced on mobile.
I use Opera. Blocks ads, and can use Chrome extensions.
Master browser
Master Blaster
Poor Stevie Wonder. When he musically said in 1980, "Peace has come to Zimbabwe" it didn't last long (Gukurahundi genocide)
Who owns Bartertown?
Ditto.
Brave, ftw
You should use Dissenter instead. It is a fork of Brave developed by Gab. It lets you comment on any website.
Isn't dissenter just an add-on? I didn't know it was a fully fledged browser.
Sorry, there's too many good browsers out there for me to support trojans like Edge.
I use Edge from time to time, it is pretty good I find, no complaints.
I love Edge now. I've used all of them including Brave. Edge looks nice, functions well and allows add-ons that give me a lot of control over things like ad blocking.
Primary Objective, clearly.
Bigot
There are people that still get triggered when you mention Brave browser. They immediately bring up the CEO when it wasn't even part of the conversation.
BASED JAVASCRIPT CREATOR.
I never knew about this Thank You!
Fucking cancerscript. It should be outlawed on any web page that is not an honest-to-God web application.
Also: HTML and CSS are braindead. groff(1) beats them both hands down and it is based on 50-year-old tech.
Woke as they may be, I think it's important to not hand google another monopoly, so I will keep using it for now.
Brave is a Chromium-based browser, so it is dependent on El Goolag.
The Mozilla Foundation is a shit show, did you know you cannot donate directly to browser development? Read this thread to be horrified and amazed.
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/i7tcii/mozilla_is_laying_off_25_of_their_employees/
I spit out coffee reading this comment:
I switched to Edge, but now Edge is using the google engine :-(
Last place I was expecting a motherfucking Jojo's reference...
Why not make a damn Jojo's reference when you have the chance?
... as I think of it, even your name is a reference...
Thanks, now I'm gonna have "mudabadabadabadabadaaahhhh" and "yes! yes! yes! yes!" and "OHHH MYYYY GAWWWDDDD" in my head for awhile.
Just started watching, decent so far
It’s a really good show. Kinda hard to get into with the first two episodes tho
it gets better each season
S-H-I-T!
You have mail!
Does this mean Metallica will have to change Master of Puppets to Primary of Puppets?
Think of what will happen to 'The Black Album'!
“The All Primary Colors In The Subtractive Color System Combined Album”
OMG, the White Album! Repression!
Yesterday. It turned out to be a surprisingly good movie. Could've done without Ed Sheeran though.
Yes. I hated the ending though. Main actor too wishywashy. Yes he wants the poisoned chalice but then no he doesn’t? Ugh too black and white. Not enough gray
Don't you mess with the black album! It has my favorite song on it.
How many were black?
That would be nice. Sure is a surprise to find how many of these pedophiles are in positions of power.
Great context. Thank you.
I think these people view the French Revolution as more important than the American one...
And Oddly, France supported our Revolution to break free from the British Empire.
What's odd about it? The French didn't give a shit about American freedom and democracy, they did it to weaken the British as part of their centuries old war/hostility
Yep they did that everywhere. Just ask the Scots.
Would you like to connect to internet masssah?
no the internet is sexist. antennas and ethernet cables are phallic symbols of the patriarchy. we need vagina shaped interfaces and antenna except if its a female penis then it can be that shape too. so long as its not a cis male phallus. (obviously /s)
Mastah of passwords, I'm typing your name,
Twisting your mind and smashing your name....
This is happening all over the place in tech. Master Branch -> Main Branch, Whitelist/Blacklist -> Allowlist/Blocklist, Scrum Master -> Scrum...?
These people are flat out racist assigning race to the Master/Apprentice (or even master/slave, you can have same-race master/slave) metaphor or light (white/black) metaphors.
Won’t make the SJWs feel better though...
considering that the word "slave" is from "Slav", as in "Slavic people" when the Ottomen muzzies went raping and pillaging in the Balkans...makes it even more absurd.
🤡🌎
I'm starting to cash in on all my Irish and polish victim-hood points. Then i pepper in a little of my sicilian and german immigrant oppression as well. Give me money world.
Disagree, the only way bullies stop is when you punch back.
All you get is a bag of potatoes and some sausages for your reparation
Ya know, maybe i could go for that X'D
Haha yeah that's where i go if they really want to insist then we get into the greatest slavers of all time
As an American from Slavic descent.... Thank you.
In audio engineering some software developers have changed master/slave to things like “lead/follow.
These people simply do not care about those we lost to lead poisoning! Rabble!
gag!
When will the unions rename "Master Electrician" and "Master Mechanic" to something else (and what will they change the names to)?
Nothing makes SJWs feel better. Their entire identity centers around perpetually being offended and “fighting back” against some perceived slight.
Very important turning points in our history suddenly have nothing to do with women like me, all because of our tendency to simplify and shorten "humankind" to "man." Apparently all of the many rights fought for don't count, because actually they were given in generosity and not implicit in our founding.
... Now, since we're both equally offended (though I'm sure they didn't even bother to walk through their reasoning), I guess it's a wash and you can say whatever you want. ;)
I wonder why SJW's are not rebelling against the word "man" in "woman", demanding to be called "wo" from now on.
That was a thing with the crazy feminists for a while. They changed the spelling to "Womyn."
Christ, I thought that was a meme
It was, then Poe's law happened.
Same with the free bleeding movement! 🤣
I've seen SJWs use "wombyn", with the word "womb" ackwardly crushed in.
For some reason "wimmin" also offends them.
Not "wo" that know of, but you've got the three fighting camps of feminists; "woman", "womxn", and "womyn".
Mankind - "man" includes woman, It's pretty simple.
Is it xirpower now?
It's going to take additional 41% xirhours to complete the project ,we just keep losing labor forces for some reason.
At my work I was just told that we have to be mindful of proper pronouns
It should be mentioned that they killed almost their entire security team.
Who needs people responsible for security & threat managment, when the woke team is unaffected and make important changes like changing a word...
one of them is called Arcadia Rose. i shit you not: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/arcadia-rose-416a42197
Didn't they also can the MDN team?
lol....
plans to focus on making money.
Usually that's a good idea when running a business.....
could also say.... plans to focus on what users actually want.
They could try to follow the Goyo business model. Worked really well for them.
I wouldn't buy Mozilla beans!
🤣🤣🤣
I’m still laughing about that... “Refocus some teams on projects designed to make money”... Holy shit... Your MBA was really put to the test coming up with that business plan.
OMG! Pretty risky! How do they know for sure that this will work???
Mozilla is nonprofit so that actually makes sense.
The problem is there's the Mozilla Corporation, where most of the layoffs have happened, and the Mozilla Foundation (the nonprofit).
In other words: "93% of our income is based on goodwill from Google that stops in November. Our recent VPN initiative is a total failure, we just destroyed our mobile app, and desktop browser market share continues to decline, with ours dropping like a rock."
I love how all these leftist companies are blaming COVID19 for their failures.
Get woke go broke.
How did COVID affect Mozillas business? lol
In these uncertain times...
We’re in this together
I read all these in NPC voice.
For the new normal
The new normal
This one annoys me the most...in this together, my ass
I know it's an example of propaganda being the explicit inversion of reality. Being under house arrest and having your business and job canceled is creating more isolation than ever!
So true. Ridiculous!
Together
Jesus Christ, I’m so sick of hearing that. I immediately change the channel/station. And half of them don’t even make sense. “In these uncertain times, Subaru is here for you.” Really??? Are you going to give me one of your hippie mobiles that’s made out of love? Fuck outta here.
We're all in this together.
Please buy our product.
In these uncertain time, you need to invest in your future; you need an investment in your family's safety and well being. No one wants to worry where their next meal is coming from, or how you are going to relax. That's why I always eat at Jone's Good Ass BBQ & Foot Message.
Everyone running around naked at the nudist camps, but wearing masks
In these uncertain time, you need to invest....in more ammo.
Same shit! My big bro used to mute commercials when we were kids and we hated it for some reason, he always told us we don't need to hear that shitnits all poisoning us.. back then he was ahead of his time in wokeness still and still is.
Now that you are driving again...
Made from love, just like the attack helicopters that they also make.
For a search engine that serves potentially millions of people 1000 people is actually a pretty damm small team.
They aren't a search engine at all.
It didn't, they just cant blame BLM, simps
Mozilla rose to prominence under CEO who was ousted in 2014 for opposing gay marriage
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mozilla-ceo-resignation-idUSBREA321Y320140403
He went on to create Brave browser. While Mozilla went on into a spiral of suck.
He also originally wrote JavaScript.
More people indoors, online...🤔
Brave browser + DuckDuckGo
I haven't tried Brave for a couple of years. Last time I did it felt like a stress testing mechanism for my CPU fan. Has it improved, performance-wise?
I've been using it for probably two years without major problems. I've only had an issue with it once -- I installed an extension for Google Chrome and it did exactly what you described. I removed the extension and it went back to normal.
Brave runs well for me. Never had a content or performance issue with it
Been using it since Google started ramping up its wokeness and corruption. Been very good, except for some issues on SharePoint.
It's really improved over the past few years. I used to have to switch between Brave and Chrome often because Brave couldn't open certain sites, but that's a rarity now. I think I've had to use Chrome maybe once this past year.
Brave can fuck off until it allows you to install it somewhere other than the C Drive.
Weird...why would they care where it's installed?
Some people are super MAGA until they’re inconvenienced in the most minor way imaginable
The person was asking why brave would care, but plenty of people care about that sort of thing. It's inexcusable not to have basic functionality. Also brave has been caught running certain links through their own referral network (foggy on the details but something like that).
It's open source isn't it? Couldn't you look at the code online if you had questions?
Every browser uses referral links to generate money. That in and of itself wasn't the issue. The problem was after an update Brave referral links began auto-completing as default links to their partner websites. It was fixed within a day or two, no user privacy was compromised, and Brave didn't receive any money as a result of the issue.
Chrome (which brave is based off of) and discord are the same way.
They at least apologized for the link thing and stopped. Much better than the vague bullshit excuse some companies would give.
Lmao
Some people have a solid state drive as their C drive and then a regular harddrive with substantially more memory.
I'd personally put my primary browser on my solid state but it's a preference thing.
Edit: Oh my mistake, I misread it and thought you asked why would he care.
I used Gentoo for about 7 years before switching to Arch for that reason.
I haven't seen qutebrowser yet -- probably going to give this a try. I used to use vimperator back in the day.
With that being said the amount of companies being lazy about that is too dam high
install it on the c drive. use a windows file system redirect. put it where ever you want. it will think it's on the c drive.
I mean anybody who runs Windows when they don't have to doesn't have much to complain about when it comes to shitty architecture - they are fully embracing it by choosing to run the worst designed and built OS out there.
So what miracle OS am I supposed to use where I can actually do something with my computer without jumping through 9001 hoops, dear OS Guru?
I don't believe you, that doesn't make sense, and sounds more likely to be user error. Please prove me wrong.
That's how I roll on my PC. My phone has opera for a browser
“Learn to code” 🤪
That guy was retarded.
If I had to guess I would say that most layoffs are probably inclusion officers, HR, and shit like that, and not actually important coders who are the backbone of the company.
no its half and half they also removed white board members and replaced them by black females
I'm happy for you. I have too.
I do, and those licenses are prohibitively expensive or not even available to smaller organizations that would otherwise be able to audit Windows.
And there are probably NDAs that prohibit them from discussing the findings of their audits in the first place.
Not unique to FOSS.
Not unique to FOSS.
Not necessarily. You're assuming that people are writing code strictly for monetary compensation. If they do it for
$DAY_JOBand then do it as a hobby, more power to them.I'm not sure why you see this as a zero sum game. It's not.
Switched to Brave after years of using Firefox, about two weeks ago.
Much better, as long as you disable all the reward garbage. However, unpopular opinion: Firefox dev tools are so much better.
It'll be cool if it goes someplace nice.
yeah that would be good if it was real ads so they could make some $ and also pay people for viewing ads. its the same useless scam crypto wallet ads,
Brave pays people for viewing ads. Brave users actually get 70% of the ad-revenue.
It’s true, they are, especially for CSS.
I like the Firefox layout and dev tools so much more than brave too.
Firefox definitely has the best dev tools. Right click, "View Page Info", "Media" tab... all the image links on the site, resolution (and scaled size), clearly enumerated. Oh yeah, and the CSS Style Editor in the inspector is head and shoulders above anything else I've used... you can create and edit style sheets live right in browser.
https://www.waterfox.net
This is intriguing -- has anyone else had any experience with it?
I like it. is 64 bit so it doesn't crash going over 4gb of ram. highly customizable like vanilla firefox.
I had no idea that there were 250 BLACK people working at Mozilla.
Probably 250 HB1 Indians are working. The rest of the American employees were probably given the pink slip. This is how tech companies in the liberal Bay Area work. They like to virtual signal but they don’t give a damn about American employees let alone BLM.
they care about money and looking good to their masters
they care about money and looking good to their
mastersprimaries.Pretty soon the word "master" and "slave" will be struck from Webster's dictionary. PC is running amok thanks to liberalism and the woke culture.
Primarily Taiwanese. This labor reduction (aka layoff) will result in closing the Mozilla Taipei, Taiwan office entirely and laying off all those employees.
Getting rid of their only valuable workers right before all their revenue dries up. Genius.
Hello from Brave browser.
TD.win needs to accept BAT. I've got $45 dollars worth (kek) I would donate in a heartbeat
We are BAT bros, lol I have about $45 worth currently.
KEK WILLS IT
I'd donate all of my BAT as well.
I usually just donate a bit to Tim Pool, and sit on the rest for the next crypto bubble.
People have been asking, yeah. Admins won't accept money from users.
I stopped using Firefox back when they banned the Dissenter extension from their app store.
Their "about" page still has this quote: "We want to give users the knowledge and the power to make informed decisions by themselves to prevent abusive practices."
Clearly that doesn't extend to decisions they don't approve of.
Wasnt it banned because of privacy issues? Or is that just the equivalent to the "he is a racist" in the browser plugin space?
It does "leak" the sites you visit to dissenter.com, but that seems like a weak argument since that's kind of the point of the extension.
I stopped using it when they fired Brendan Eich.
Goodbye, good riddance.
CoIVD didnt affect your business, fucking morons. All your employees could work remotely, lol.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with ad revenues being down, since there's less companies willing to advertise.
they get money from the search engines being preselected in firefox. the search engine makes money from ads.
Soros owns Mozilla now, so don't expect anything positive from that shitshow. If you're still using firefox, don't anymore. They're tracking you like a deer with every move you make.
The fact they admit they'll be focusing more on 'privacy products' is all you need to know. Stay away.
Do we have a source on soros owning firefox? It’s my preferred browser and if this is true i’m gonna have to switch..
He bought it in 2017.
https://www.activistpost.com/2017/08/mozilla-joins-george-soross-efforts-launching-strike-fake-news.html
https://www.mixedmartialarts.com/forums/amp/OtherGround/Firefox-bought-off-by-Soros:2670194
thats fake news.
I suppose it's a technicality, but if Soros is throwing millions at it, you better believe he controls it.
FUUUUUUUUUUUCK
I like Firefox browser...but...they choose their own fate.
Try waterfox! https://www.waterfox.net
Thank you!
Or Palemoon, because their lead dev gave Patreon the middle finger for donating to BLM.
Waterfox is great.
If they want their “new focus” to be successful they should throw their support to Trump.
Mozilla seems to be thoroughly infested with "social justice" ideology.
Sounds like their tune is changing hopefully. Make real money support Trump or dirty money selling out to CHYNA.
Honestly didn't know people still used it like AOL.
I use Firefox because it doesn't choke on 10,000 tabs.
Delete it and switch to Waterfox. It's a fork of Firefox and less bloated too.
No. It's open source. I can do with it what I want, and disabling telemetry does more to hurt Mozilla while I continue to use what I want to use.
I'd recommend Palemoon over other alternatives, because the lead dev has spoken out against Patreon supporting BLM and removed donation support through them.
If you're not going to use Firefox (which, again, is FOSS) for whatever reason, at least support the one fork that's actively doing something against woke culture.
Was never a multi tab person unless I am at work.
I (ab)use my browsers. Badly.
In fact, if you listen closely, you can probably hear a distant whimpering from wherever you are when I start it up.
Master Locks are so screwed.
Moved on from firefox to brave for some time now.
“Coronavirus significantly impacted our revenue”
Yeah, it must really be hard on an company producing web browsing tools to have everyone locked up in their houses for months on end. You know what those companies really need to thrive? People outside doing stuff.
Poor Mozilla.
So what should I replace Firefox with guys? I was only using it because I refuse to use Chrome out of protest of google. I am using DuckDuckGo already.
Brave
Same founder as Firefox
edit: he's the cofounder of Firefox and its former CEO
I would also recommend Brave. It's basically like using Chrome (you can even install Chrome extensions in the exact same way), but without Google having their grubby, evil hands all over you.
Try waterfox! https://www.waterfox.net
Also heard DDG got bought out. Ive been using Yandex and Gibiru
It wouldn't surprise me. Their news search is pretty much the same Left-wing crap as Google at this point. No, they're not flat out omitting Breitbart...yet. But it's fairly worthless.
Qwant seems to be good also, I learned about it from this site.
I use Vivaldi. Surprised no other mention of it, maybe it has issues I don't know about?
I use it too, works great!
Was an Opera user for so many years, but switched to Vivaldi a couple years ago and it feels a bit better.
Pale moon. It split off of Firefox some years ago. Highly underrated. And while not based per se, they are pretty libertarian.
Same question. Is there anything wrong with Opera? It ranks above Chrome and Firefox on a lot of tech websites, I've used it in the past and liked it.
Last I heard it was bought by either Tencent or some Chinese company.
Well that's a NOPE. Guess I'll try Brave.
I use Opera and love it, mainly because of the highlight search and conversion function. They were bought out by a large Chinese consortium some years ago, but the company still operates out of Norway and has to abide by those strict privace laws, supposedly. I'd hate to switch, but may.
If any of you Opera users ever have to switch to another browser, try Vivaldi.
It's made by ex-Opera employees, so it has the same feel.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivaldi_(web_browser)
I'm liking Brave so far, I'd like to trust Opera and the Norway vs. China thing but we know how China feels about privacy laws.
Um... I think you missed something with this.
There's two other cities with close to 3 million residents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taichung
My bad.
It's the name of the Taiwanese Capital surely.. or is it? I'm confused now. :p
Taipei is the capital of Taiwan.
I'm an IT guy, and used to deploy Firefox to every computer I worked on. Hundreds, maybe thousands of PCs over the years. Once Mozilla started this woke garbage, I never recommended their software again, and removed it from my personal machines. They can rot in hell.
Aren’t they all chromium based?
The chromium monoculture bothers me. It’s a shame.
Be nice to see FireFox go down.
Brave Browser with DuckDuckGo. Drop all these idiots.
Does anyone feel like no matter what you buy or use it is controlled by cucks? I wish I could use a Goya brand browser.
BRAVE BROWSER
the firefox engine is actually pretty good and faster than chrome since quantum. but their management is poop.
I'm super excited for them to break TLS by trying to goodify it with SJW propaganda and newspeak.
Good reminder for everyone, use Brave Browser.
Same guy that started Firefox started Brave after getting kicked out for donating to some anti-gay marriage campaign or something like that
More reason to support him, fuck the cancel culture.
for i know him personally hes a good guy. not a fan of brave tbh. its okay but not the best. he knows that.
There’s also Waterfox
https://www.waterfox.net/
Im partial to Waterfox
So how many black people in Taipei again? We need a Patriot Browser.
I use Brave
Why would the Wuhan affect their revenue? They make a fucking web browser, that people SITTING ON THEIR ASSES AT HOME use.
They just destroyed their mobile app apparently, and their desktop version isn't competitive.
Going downhill ever since they removed their co-founder, Brandon Eich. He created Javascript, fucking idiots at Mozilla. Oh well, fuck em, Brave browser it is!
Unless they rehire or otherwise apologize to Brendan Eich, I'm still boycotting Mozilla products.
"it was the virus" thats why youre announcing this layoff months after, totally not the woke bullshit from a few weeks ago.
I thought most people stopped using firefox years ago when it became the most insecure browser at the hacker cons
I had no idea they did this. I may use some add blockers... what good browser is there if not Firefox?
Brave and Waterfox are good
Ever since Mozilla fired Brendan Eich for opposing homosexual "marriage", I have used his Brave Browser. But once Gab developed Dissenter Browser, I switched to that instead.
Firefox is exactly just like a libtard.. Sucks up too many resources and is very slow
I use qwant search, they seem pretty good for privacy, and they don't use gaggle results. DDG is basically just a Gaggle wrapper.
$500M in annual revenue, but they couldn't survive because they were bloated - 1000 employees and a CEO that pulls in $2.5M/yr. So what do they do? Lay off their Servo team members (which worked on Firefox) and their security response team. What a mismanaged clusterfuck.
Use Brave instead.
Anyone find it weird that THE LEFT wants to boycott Facebook? Like THEY'RE ON YOUR SIDE! Definitely. Just because they won't directly censor Trump ads does NOT mean they aren't on your side.
