Honestly I hate to agree with him but he is right.
Nobody would refer to a full-blooded Indian as "black". So why would you refer to someone who is half-Indian, half white, how do you call them black or African American?
So Heelsup has been passing all these years. Interesting. I worked with a woman for several months assuming from her appearance that she was African American. Then one day she came to work dressed in a Sari. I complimented her on her outfit and she told me it was in honor of Diwali which she and her family were celebrating. She told me both her parents were born in India and they wanted to keep the traditions alive here for their grandchildren. BTW, I wasn't the only one surprised by her actual ethnicity.
