Are there any studies that review spread? The lefts counterpoint is that masks are about you stoping your cough droplets from spreading further, rather than protecting yourself from others.
I’d assume so.. that was Newsom’s excuse to close the churches, right? That masks were powerless against gospel songs?
There was a study published in Nature magazine that basically said, masks may help if you are actively infected AND coughing, because the virus can be held in those droplets. They monitored regular breathing, though, in infected people and found that their respiration didn't carry a detectable amount of the virus after 30 minutes.
Basic summary was, if you're sick and coughing, wear a mask, and avoid infected people who are gonna cough near you.
