Last time I was in Austin, I was baffled by the number of signs that had the word "California" on it.

California fashion!

California style!

California designs!

The tastes of California!

It's like all the businesses were trying to remind their customers of home.

And you really can tell the natives from the transplants. They may be moronic leftists, but at least Texan moronic leftists are still polite (in person).

Fake news

Afeazo 9 points ago +9 / -0

They want to live in a liberal area, they just do not want to have to deal with the downsides of living in a liberal area.

Too bad it doesn't work like that. It is like saying you want to live in Alaska but you dont want to deal with snow.

Austin is (was) a fun city to visit, but I'd never want to live there. They're approaching San Francisco levels of liberal retardation

I have land outside of Fredericksburg for my retirement, but I too am thinking about selling and realigning my sights on Oklahoma (I can buy triple the amount of land, too). It also eclipsed Texas' gun laws according to Gun and Ammo in 2019.

Oklahoma got a new governor in 2018 and he was quick to enact a Permitless Carry bill early this year. Under the new law, Concealed Carry is legal without a permit so long as the individual is not a prohibited possessor. The law goes further than most by allowing members of the military who are over 18 to carry without a permit. Oklahoma does not place restrictions on Black Rifles, magazines or any NFA items earning it full points in those categories.

Yeah but the problem is that FBG is God’s country and that Oklahoma is.. Oklahoma

Going to Fredericksburg next week to enjoy Texas Wine Country and will be looking for retail space/land for a project I've been thinking about for a while. I love that area!

Thanks! I was there in in June and have been missing it ever since we came back. Taking my mom next month as well. I'll practically be a local by then. 🤣

Come to NC. We have a lot of Texans here.

2
Maxberg 2 points ago +2 / -0

The liberal kind?

2
DNC_Ballot_QATeam 2 points ago +2 / -0

Nope. I am a misplaced Texan. Lots of us here. We are keeping this state from going Blue.

Never vote for a bond when you can pay in cash or not have at all.

Left-fags love bonds and taxation.

Californians are moving to once great areas and turning them into shitholes. Democrat morons continue voting for the same policies that led to shitholeness. And they don’t understand why. Shockedpikachuface.jpg

Throw their asses back to CA as a punishment.

They can help those of us here turn this state red, one way or another, or we die trying.

nickybops 10 points ago +10 / -0

Since these idiots are dumb enough to do this right before an election, I hope others in Texas take notice of what these people are actually trying to implement on a large scale and actually vote an America First candidate in and these cucks the fuck out.

0
Nopa 0 points ago +1 / -1

No such candidate exists in Austin. Republicans were gerrymandered out of the town council by the new form of city government 5 years ago.

9
ElGuapo 9 points ago +9 / -0

Somebody correct me if I’m off here but I was under the impression Austin has always (by “always”I mean at least in the last 10 to 15 maybe 20 years) been super liberal and cucked compared to the rest of Texas.

10
TearofLys 10 points ago +10 / -0

It is. In East Austin (not far from downtown), there is a giant BLM mural on the street. As we know from the unfortunate AK-47 guy, they are protesting downtown almost nightly. Also, the mayor has given free reign to homeless people and they are everywhere.

3
ElGuapo 3 points ago +3 / -0

I figured. Disappointing but not unexpected.

2
Maxberg 2 points ago +2 / -0

I believe that's the case. Lived in San Antonio, Austin is a rather large college city. Don't mess Texas + their guns.

8
SuperSilly 8 points ago +9 / -1

Austin has been a shithole for a while now. Basically any "college town" becomes a shithole

7
wethedownvoted 7 points ago +7 / -0

They're not reducing the budget. Guaranteed those millions will find their way into DNC aligned NGO's and captured institutions.

1
The_RedWolf 1 point ago +1 / -0

I can’t remember the exact figure but like 60% of the 150M is literally just moving divisions to other city departments while maintaining the true funding for the division

The 150M is technically true from a APD budget point of view but just moving money around and putting a new guy in charge doesn’t actually cut anything in reality.

However, there are some very real cuts like the possible ending of the lake force, park patrol, mounted units, traffic enforcements, 3 cadet classes cancelled, lowering OT pay, etc

Yeah they’re all in there and they fucking suck.

The city did this in a way while still cucked, made it look better to the BLM/ANTIFA types than what they actually did.

0
Nopa 0 points ago +1 / -1

Yea, I think it ended up being a 5% reduction in budget and a 3% to 5% reduction in officers.

6
KaiserBilltheWolf 6 points ago +6 / -0

Even the hippies are leaving. California transplants buying up condos near 6th street to be close to the night life then bitching about the noise. I also hate having to go to that shithole for work and having to step over homeless drugged out zombies on the sidewalk in front of my hotel.

5
zoober_floober 5 points ago +5 / -0

I thought Austin was a piece of California, like that little piece of Minnesota that's in Canada.

3
YourDaddyKnowsBest [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I thought Austin was a piece of California

Austin is Mini San Francisco

4
zoober_floober 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yup.

The encroachment of socialist/collectivist/communist "zones" in the USA is identical to how cancer spreads in a living organism. And the eradication of it must be handled in the same way.

Americans need to either get fucking serious about saving their country, or they might as well hand over the keys without a fight and save themselves the exertion.

1
Phil_Selway 1 point ago +1 / -0

But bills to pay! No matter the children won't get to live in a free country... Bills!

3
zoober_floober 3 points ago +3 / -0

The average US citizen cares about only four things:

Electric power, food on store shelves, gas at the pump, and a job to go to.

ONLY when those things stop will they look around to see what's going on.

And by then it's too late, of course.

I wonder if there will be fewer speed traps in Austin now? I haven't been there in a few years, but they always had motorcycle cops hiding behind bridge abutments and other places. They were Johnny on the spot catching speeders.

Full disclosure: I never got a ticket in Austin, just noticed a lot of cops TRYING to give me a ticket.

8
Yankreeeedoodle 8 points ago +8 / -0

No....that is a revenue generator and would be one of the last things to be cut.

1

Actually traffic enforcement is on the list of possible divisions to end that was released today

Democrats have already stated that California is their model for the rest of the country. Kamala herself stated so. Give it enough time and liberals will usher this 3rd world in to America, nationwide.

4
YourDaddyKnowsBest [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Democrats have already stated that California is their model for the rest of the country.

Yes. And specifically San Francisco

3

After huge win in el Paso and anti cartel. Now Austin will be more of a crime capital than before

3

Gonna be fun when the hill country good ol' boys show up and start raiding and there's no one to stop them.

I like to think they would still be more civilized than hows it's been 😂

3
AbelsRevenge 3 points ago +3 / -0

While I disagree with the defunding of the police in Austin I would also point out that the police department is no where in the city's charter. Hence, it already is an illegal police force. They need to do it right.

3
VinnysMagicGrits 3 points ago +3 / -0

Get ready for more fights and shootings on 6th street every weekend.

3
The_RedWolf 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’ve lived in the austin metro or it’s shadow most of my life, so this obviously was important to me so I looked into it

It’s bad, but it’s not $150M bad.

Many departments like 911 are simply getting new bosses within the city, so they are still funded at the same level but reporting to someone else instead of APD. That probably won’t make much of a difference to what the workers do in those departments. Those movements are like 60% of the “cuts”. I could take or leave these changes simply because nothing truly changes.

The rest of the cuts though... like the elimination of 3 cadet classes, the closing of 140 something officer vacancies and the potential removal of multiple divisions including park patrol, lake patrol, mounted police (they patrol our downtown drinking districts weekend nights which have the highest crime in the city) among others. I’m not a fan of any of those cuts.

It’s a nasty cut but it’s not a true 150M.

Austin is a very small spot in my great state. No worries my friend. We got this! 😉 we love our state as much as our country, but let me tell you something, we got a whole lot of country in our state! Austin will wreck itself. And our conservative brethren will step in and clean out the trash!

Where or to whom is the money going?

2

I grew up in Austin, and I remember when it was a great place to live. It's always been one of the safest cities in America. That's about to change. I'd love to get out but my daughter is here and so is my job.

2
BeanieBeanTX 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah...fucking idiots keep voting more stupid idiots into office. I hate having to go to Austin for anything. It just sucks so badly down there now. 20 yrs ago, it was the Live Music Capital. Now it’s mini-SF/Seattle/Portland.

Glad that I don’t have to pay that stupid Travis County tax...
