If the government gets so bad, (it almost is) that they decide to murder their own citizens out of political convenience they will not be held back by illegality of capital punishment. They will just open the gulags, or if it's a more specific group they want gone just kill them and lie. The laws are for us, not them. That being said, get out of the cities, arm up, get food independent, and they won't care about you. That kind of shit will be in the cities. The government would go broke if they tried to dominate a land mass the size of rural USA. Our boonies are way larger that all of Europe.
