Nearly 100% of all the images coming out of the dam are shitty composites. The biggest issue is that the dam was never connected to the bedrock; just built on the flat ground. Yikes. Well, the water is eroding underneath the dam during these floods (shocker!) and has cracked a couple sections. The thing about concrete, cracks only get worse. There is no flex; literally 0. It cracks then cracks more then fails. There is no almost failing and then it’s okay. Once the damage is done, there is no fix. The dam is gonna fail and time is not on their side
They actually drilled down into the bedrock and squirted some type of epoxy in there but then you're just praying that your epoxy holds it all together. Watch the video of the Brit engineers explaining how they built the dam, the anchoring to the bedrock was the most glaring issue of the whole project even to a non engineer like myself.
