Pit bulls are often raised in bad conditions and are often bred to be attack dogs.
They are bread for the instinct. They are a drag on dog culture. They are predisposed to violence and in the wrong hands very dangerous animals. Much like most of the people who want and abandon them.

Most pits are very nice, intelligent animals. The difference between them and other breeds that may behave in exactly the same ways is greater bite strength. They can kill more easily because they can bite much harder. Even if other breeds bit at the same rate, the death rate would still be skewed.
They are need to fight due to instinctive aggression. I am however not saying they are terrible animals. I myself have a giant schnauzer. Also a dog with a instinctive propensity to be a nasty animal. My problem is with the owners of Pitts. I figured certainly the Pitt bull apologist society could see that. But no, turns out they are mostly like the BBC apologist society. "But he loves me"
The aggression is a result of selective breeding by the breeders in the beginning. They would breed the two most aggressive dogs they had to try to get more aggressive pups. You can do that with most animals. But breeding has been widespread and uncontrolled for years now, making the breed overall like any other dog. Aggressive strains should be weeded out wherever they're found, both for safety and to improve the breed.

The trendy attack dog breed of the day is responsible for bites. Before Pits it was Rotties with every moron raising one and then saying "Derp not my fault it bit, just instincts and stuff Derp".
Before rotties, it was Doberman Pinchers that needed to be banned because they were responsible for all the bites.
Before them, German Shepherds needed to be banned, because, they were responsible for all the bites.
Before them, bloodhounds needed to be banned, because they were just genetically bred to bite people.
Pitbull type dogs were bred for generations to select specific traits that make them dangerous dog breeds: attack with no warning signs, massive neck and jaws with concomitant strength, bite and hold. The traits that made for a gentle/friendly type of family dog were not selected for by breeders for centuries. Combine this with raising a pitbull in an abusive or neglectful environment and you have dogs that are a disaster waiting to happen.
Pit bulls are the most loyal and loving creature you can have on this planet. It's the degenerate people who make them who they are. I hate anyone who abuses or takes advantage of any innocent life. Child or animal. If we were more strict on animal abuse and animal well being pitbulls wouldn't have the reputation they do. Slap on the wrist for animal abuse is pathetic. Just my 2 ¢

There are plenty of cases of pits raised in loving homes, that ‘wouldn’t hurt a fly’, etc, snapping at a trigger one day and killing a kid. The shit happens and it makes total sense as they are bred to be aggressive, lethal, and quick to attack. To deny this as matter of absolute fact is nothing short of mental illness, which most pit advocates have.

Any breed of dog can snap. That's not exclusive to pitbulls. In fact, many other breeds more likely so than pitbulls. The difference is the strength of the dog, not the mind of the pitbull breed itself. With approximately 4.5 million pitbulls living in America with ~345 people being killed by them over a 15 year period, it's not as common to be attacked as the fear mongering media would have you believe. Although, If you wanna live in fear of the big bad scary dog go right ahead. It's a free country and you're free to have your feelings.

I paid $600 for a shih-tzu because they are supposed to be smart. Whaddaya know, he's an extremely smart dog. There are also dogs for hunting, herding, rescuing people, etc. Don't get a dog that was created to be a killer and call him a perfect little angel.
