Other's (mostly people who aren't black or women) don't have the same institutionalized "voice" that blacks and women do. Suffering on the part of Hispanics, American Indians, Asians, and White people are diminished or are only allowed as political weapons against the right.
There's a struggle to be at the top of the victimhood totem pole and any reminder that other people suffered or suffering that doesn't go strictly along the lines of skin color are a huge threat to the victimhood-industrial-complex.
I grew up in NYC. We lost a lot of friends, neighbors, acquaintances that day. My classmates lost parents, relatives. Over the years that passed since, many more have died. My father is experiencing the effects of it - his health has gone to shit. I have developed breathing issues (and the jury is out as to whether the moondust may have contributed it).
