I saw what you were trying to say with the modern version of "through the eye of the needle". :D

The Old Testament already has a metaphor to cover that... the furnace/fire. The exile is described as a silversmith using fire to purge undesirable traits from his work. In this case, God purging impurities from his people.

We see this symbolism with Daniel's three friends being thrown into Nebuchadnezzar's furnace... And surviving. God's angel being with them was symbolic of the fact that even as we are being placed right through the grinder, God is still with us.

Even Jesus hints at it with one of his statements... Where he talked about people being thrown into the furnace, then the righteous "shining".

That doesn't mean both can't be applicable and new ones can't be found. I've seen a couple of messages use The Matrix (the movie they're now trying to re-appropriate as trans-allegory ...without success, by the way) as a basis. That's where the whole "red pill" thing comes from. (While prior art, Total Recall isn't the origin because the red pill in that one was real world (in the setting) poison or drug combined with deception as they were getting increasingly desperate to stop Quaid.)

I wasn't saying that your description isn't applicable, nor am I arguing that they can't find new ones. :D I just prefer to utilize what they use in the Bible, as there's a common thread that unites the entire Bible, from the beginning to the end.

I gathered the red pill part being from the Matrix. I remember watching that movie when it first came out in the theaters... In the late 1990s. :D "Morpheus" in Matrix is akin to a potter, which fits his role in the movie... He "morphed" Neo (new) into who he eventually became in the movie.

The red pill was an opportunity to take the full plunge into the movie's "real world", as opposed to what everybody else in the movie thought was the real world... Take the blue pill and all the real world exposure would be forgotten. Had he taken the blue pill, he woud've continued to live in an illusion.

Hence, our side of the argument being "red pilled" and seeing reality versus our opposition and their views based on erroneous opinion (blue pilled).

There's even Biblical symbology in the Matrix. For example, during the scene where they show Neo stepping on a street, slightly flooded due to the rain, but not deep enough to hide people's shoes... They showed the ripples in the water from where Neo took his steps... Symbolizing Jesus walking on water. He was the "savior" in the movie series.
