A lot of schools don't even bother teaching cursive anymore. The internet and texting are partly to blame for that. Cursive used to be taught because it was faster than printing. But typing is faster than cursive, and handwritten letters are a thing of the past. It's a nice skill to have, of course.
Most of our old documents are also written in cursive. Remove the ability to read the old documents, and suddenly it's a lot easier to change what people think they say.
Every vehicle we own is a manual transmission. We get better than EPA mileage estimates and haven't had to put a clutch in any of them, 180 thousand, 299 thousand and 350 thousand miles respectively. It makes me a better driver. I have to pay attention to what's going on and anticipate gear selection.
I used to work in hair salon next to a 20-something, she was constantly asking me what time it was and I finally was like... the clock is literslly RIGHT THERE! She told me she couldn't read a clock unless it digital. Jeeze these kids can't tell time, can't count change, and can't write cursive. Fuck off, schools!
Our schools still teach analog time. I believe it's taught in the third grade (around the same time cursive USED to be taught.) All the wall clocks in the schools are still analog, too, so unless a kid wears a digital wristwatch, he'd better learn if he wants to know the time.
I was working at a cash register for a short time recently and my manager was surprised that I know how to count. I seriously cannot believe some of the changes that have happened over the last decade.
Hahaha! Same here! My handwriting is so bad it got mistaken for Arabic once. That was the day I stopped writing in cursive. I still keep in practice with reading cursive, though.
Believe me, keep up the penmanship training until it's locked in. Improving handwriting improves the ability to think. My thoughts became much clearer and more organized after I seriously worked on my handwriting as an adult.
Good start, next: make up a second set of sheets with guidelines ruled at 55° from the horizontal. All stems should match this slant angle precisely. It will feel quite steep at first, but it is correct.
Edit: and get the kid a decent pen! Something with a converter to refill.
I goto public school. In 2nd grade they began teaching cursive but suddenly stopped, and I hadn't cared to teach it to myself since. I can only write my first and last name in cursive. The public school system has failed.
Donald Trump is the President of the U.S. He wants our country to be safe, he wants to protect our freedoms, protect our borders and to be rich and prosperous. His opponents hate him and everything he stands for, they want the opposite.
Something something cursive writing is white supremacy

Good point, never thought about it like that
Supposedly, learning cursive helps with making mental connections because "kinesiology and neurophysiology" or something.
Regardless, it's in the same category as learning to drive a stick shift car. People think it's arcane because they don't know how to do it.

It also guarantees that your cars will never be stolen.
The millennial anti-theft device FTW.

Everything beautiful is white.
it's even more so when doing this on the Big Chief Tablet, like a lot of us did 40+ yrs ago.
"Big", "Chief", not only is that racist, it's also fat shaming! REEEEEEEEEEE!
Okay?
The best part is young lefties won't be able to read this "Secret White Supremacists Code" without the Kamala-Biden decoder ring... lol
Now there's a teacher...MAGA on Mom!

One trick to good cursive is not trying to go too fast.
But the point of cursive is so you can write faster.
Well done Momma Pede! Imagine how much better your child will be in life because of home schooling.
Beautiful penmanship.

Beautiful handwriting. My kids' writing is one of the first public school problems I have to fix . . . /sigh Homeschooling begins soon!

It's wasy to kearn. Just learn how to do wach letter and you have it. Buy one of those tablets. We spent third grade learning penmanship.
Thank you for showing us this. Been looking for something that I can print with whatever sentences I put in for my child to practice handwriting with!
Now we need a thread where we can post all of the free content our children can use online for their benefit!
Yes it’s pretty awesome you can type what you want and adjust size!
I am left handed so I write like a doctor.
This is why everyone should homeschool. In a government school, it would be something about how Willie is now Wendy and "she" has two mommies.
Definitely appreciate that my parents taught us cursive. Also, another good skill to start them learning in grade school is touch typing.
VA doesn’t teach it anymore either.
That is so adorable! I want that to put on my refrigerator.
cant be real. Person has better handwriting than me.
To be fair she was following dotted lines 😂
Ohhh zooming in, I see the dotted lines hahaha. Still very well done!
Beautiful!
Fuck cursive hand writing, that is all!
The secret ancient cursive!

Heck yeah.
Spencerian is a thousand times better.
Sky's the limit with home schooling!
